I can see how Grandma would have a hard time with Jason wanting to play this music. This was composed in 24 when Gershwin was in his 20s.

I don't see/ hear anything wrong with it. Kinda make me think of F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald and their chance encounter with the Judge and the Baldwin sisters. Miss Emily thinks F Scott looks a little like Ashley Longworth

I can hear this is a crossover piece of popular music set in a classical. form, The popular music is influenced by Gerwin's Eastern European Jewish roots, blues from African culture & jazz which grew out of blues.
