David was awfully nice to her after she stood him up. It would have been nice to have seen him find someone else.

He did. He found someone in Lanview, PA. "Vietnam War-veteran Bo arrives in the fictional city of Lanview, Pennsylvania, in November 1979, following his brother Clint (Clint Ritchie) from their native Texas. Clint had secured the chief editing position at Lanview's flagship newspaper, The Banner, replacing the ailing husband and editor for Banner publisher Victoria Lord Riley (Erika Slezak), Joe Riley (Lee Patterson)." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bo_Buchanan

This was so long ago, I can remember Vicky's alter ego, Nikki! I still view Dorian as a newcomer!

I just rewatched a couple episodes featuring David Spencer. I wish David became a permanent character on The Waltons. Fortunately, actor Robert S. Woods brought his charm and talents to One Life to Live. As a fan of OLTL, I was upset when it was cancelled. I also remember Robert's 1980s deodorant commercials. He used to say, "Never pick up the phone on the first ring because it makes you look anxious. And, never let them see you sweat." Great advice. To this day, I still wait for at least two rings!
Generally, I do not like reboots. However, I do want to see an OLTL reboot with Robert and Erika Slezak. I still have hope. They just decided to reboot All My Children. Also, a reboot of Little House on the Prairie is now in the works -- that's surprising! Writers must be running out of fresh, original ideas because I see a lot of reboots these days. I'm curious which shows people here would like to see rebooted. The Waltons? I say maybe yes, but only if they honor the original version and bring in the original cast.

I thought All My Children had already been rebooted as a web series. It was my favorite back in the day. But I stopped watching it about 1999.

The proposed new series based on “All My Children” is less a reboot and more of a follow-up series set in the same universe. It would be called “Pine Valley” and would be a weekly primetime series. And it would focus on a new set of characters with a new family feud backstory and feature a “sprinkling” of appearances from AMC vets.
It’s only “in development” right now. ABC would have to decide to order a pilot next, and after a pilot would need to decide whether to order it to series. But if it does come to fruition, my guess is that it will disappoint longtime fans. They’re not going to put the older characters center stage, and they’re not going to follow much continuity of the old show. They will be trying to attract a new, younger audience.
And yeah - David Spencer was as lot nicer to Mary Ellen after she broke the engagement than most men would be. It would have been interesting to have them married and explore their class differences.

I'm a bit more optimistic that Pine Valley, if it comes to fruition, will appeal to longtime fans and honor the show's history. The new show will be exec produced by former AMC stars Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos and will focus on the feud between the Kane and Santos families. I think the big question is whether Susan Lucci will join the new show.
Both AMC and OLTL did have web versions in 2013. ABC cancelled both soaps in 2011. If I recall correctly, in 2013, Prospect Park Co. (not ABC) created an online version of both shows with former and new cast. The online episdoes also aired on the OWN channel. By the end of 2013, Prospect Park cancelled both online shows.
And here we are today. I think that the soap opera genre will see a resurgence in the next few years.

We loved those big Texan boys and Bo was my fave. 🥰

^ Me too! I watched OLTL for about 30 years. As I was "growing up" during those years, I saw Bo age gracefully from young adult to middle ager to grandpa.

Bo had his share of the ladies lol. Poor guy was always trying to keep daddy Asa in line. This makes me think of a scene between Bo and Asa which was funny and I've never forgot it. Asa was complaining about either Bo's wife Nora or women in general or both. And he said something like "It was Eve that ate the apple, and Nora's got a whole purse full of Granny Smith's".
