For me its Olivia, Erin, and Jim Bob.
While Olivia was always pretty I got annoyed with her repeated whining and seemingly dissatisfaction with her life. Especially when she seemed to expect everyone else in the family to remain exactly the same.
Of course part of my opinion is based on her constant condemnation of military service and insistence that "there isn't going to be another war". Which seems incredibly naïve at present but I guess was a more understandable sentiment back then. And at least her beliefs were influenced heavily on her experience of John leaving to fight in World War One while she was pregnant with John Boy. And no doubt having to go through that alone including when Ben (John's brother) was killed influenced her later on.
But other things I just can't fathom. Like her whining about the family being apart in the "Burn Out" episodes after the fire damaged their house. I mean come on!. Your entire family is within walking distance!. And you know they'll all be back when the house is repaired.
Jim Bob turned me off with his whining about not being able to become a combat pilot. As I think John pointed out, if he wanted to fly in combat there were plenty of chances. He could fly as a navigator, bombardier, or gunner. All those were important positions.
Erin seemed to raise whining to a fine art.

I don't think I have a least favourite, If pushed, I'd say Mary Ellen and Erin when young . Mary Ellen because she was such a drama queen, always threatening to wham someone. Erin was such a Tell-tale. I still liked them though, you need a bit of contrast.

I love the whole family a lot. They all had their strengths and weaknesses. If I had to pick, maybe Erin with her whining and falling in love with every young man who came to the Mountain. Erin is still one of my favourite characters though. This question is so hard! 😂

This won't be a popular opinion since he has so many fans here, but my least favourite character was and still is Jason. To me, he was the most un-Walton 'Walton' in the show. I'm not bothered that Jon's musical talents were incorporated into the show from the very beginning but, except for his 'Appalachian Portrait', I didn't find many of Jon's compositions particularly enjoyable. I always felt that he had to work extremely hard for the music and lyrics and there were times when they simply didn't work. Not only were they sometimes challenging to play and sing, there were times that they were challenging to listen to.
In the final season, I could never accept Jason as officer material any more than I could accept him taking over the mill for his father.

Not got any real issues with any of the regular cast. My issues are with "replacements". Curt and of course John Boy. Nothing against the actors but bad mistake on both counts. Nothing wrong with Robert Wightman's acting but not convincing as John Boy. Not his fault. Just a bad idea to try to replace Richard Thomas

I don’t have a least favorite character. I think each character had his/her strengths and weaknesses, but that made them more realistic.

I disliked Mary Ellen in the early seasons and in The Homecoming. And if you get right down to it, she really did David dirty. Jilting him at the alter (of the wedding rehearsal, wasn't it). I realize they were probably looking for a dynamic like Zeb and Esther had with Curt and Mary Ellen, but still.

I’m not a huge fan of the bossy, judgmental, adult Mary Ellen. She reminds me of a relative.
I’m also not overly fond of Jason or his singing.

Both John Boy and Mary Ellen had moments as adults where they could be shrill and self righteous. Not unlike their mother. Too bad they both didn't take their cues from John who was almost the perfect television father. Also despite all the setbacks the series showed him having in life, he simply sucked it up and worked harder. He rarely belabored his lot in life.
I thought it supremely ironic that despite not going to church himself (except for a few times) it was John who straightened things out with two consecutive preachers. In "The Sinner" and "The Hawk".

I like them all. Each one does do something annoying throughout the series but just like in real life, I can overlook that annoyance because of the big picture of who the person (character) is.
There have been a few mentions of Jason and his singing/music. I don't have an issue with his music or singing but he does do one thing several times throughout the series that really annoys me. When he is sitting at the piano playing and turns around and looks at someone and smiles. I don't know why, but it is like nails on a chalkboard to me when he does that.

Yeah, my brother said to me that whenever Jason is playing you just have to wait for him to look around. It's cute 😊

^ I've often wondered if that was from direction or if it was just a Jon Walmsley mannerism. I tend to think it's a mannerism. It happens too often even with different directors.

I found all three girls bratty and annoying when young, but they became more tolerable as they matured.
Ike Godsey could be annoying at times. He often had a big mouth, and caused trouble by revealing things that would have been common sense to keep your mouth shut about.

Elizabeth, hands down, every time. I never found her cute and the writers kept her infantilised into her early teens. That annoyed me. Next, which might surprise, is John Boy himself. His attitude towards his few girlfriends was poor, like he wanted their attentions but ultimately he was more for getting ahead with his career than making any commitment. I found him incredibly self-centred.
