I just noticed how many of the same vehicles pop up in different episodes and seasons. You would probably have to be an old car person to notice this, like I am. I would'nt concider this a blooper. There were just so many still around even back in the 70's. The panel truck used in The Wingwalker I think is the same one used after Mary Ellen and Kert got married. I noticed a guy, forgot his name of course but he was driving an old Model A that I am pretty sure is the same car they used when Jimbob fixed up his own car because of a certain dent in one of the back fenders. I was watching season 4 when I noticed this. Just thought there might be some old car people on here that notice the same thing.

Wish I could help you with this. After going through the Walton's series for about the 6th or 7th time, I'm starting to notice little differences, but haven't paid much attention to the cars yet. I'll start though!

Hi ssMarilyn,
Glad there is someone else on here that likes old cars. About have to be an old car person to notice. I think the old panel truck is a 1932 Ford Model B. If so, they did'nt make very many of these. Model B's were only produced one year in the car line so even fewer probably as a panel truck.

Also kert's panel truck was used by the Army in the battle for Drucilla's Pond. I think john boys car was used in the move It Happened one Christmas (The remake of it's a wonderful life) when Mary goes looking for George Hatch (Wayne Rogers) he is out side his garage working on a car It looks just like John Boy's car.

Thanks Tonyray. You must be an old car person too. You notice more than I do.

I love old cars! Every time Jim Bob comes roaring around the bend into the farmyard and slams on the brakes, I imagine myself in the passenger seat...and oh man, to have the wind blowing through your hair like that on a nice summer day when you're whipping down the mountain!

I remember when we were kids, we rode in the back of the truck like that...standing up, looking forward over the top of the cab. You don't see that anymore! I'm trying to think of the type of vehicle I learned to drive in, but can't remember the make. It was a pick-up....red. I had to pull out the choke to get it started. No key either, just push a button!

Hey ssMarilyn. We use to do the same thing when we were kids. It was in the back of a Studebaker pickup that I still have. I restored it. I see you are from Minnesota. You people up there must be tuff to be able to take the cold and snow. We are getting ready to have our first measurable snow fall tonite and tomorrow here in southern Indiana. The temps have been getting down near zero at night. We only get about two or three good snows a winter here in Indiana so it is a big deal when we get one. There have been a few exceptions in the past. Like the blizzard of 1978.

My hometown, where most of my family still is, is 25 miles south of the Canadian border in North Dakota. I'm only in Minnesota because the man I married works here. He's career law enforcement, so has to be in the BIG _*$%#_ CITY. (ugh) ;D Hey, I really LOVE that red car that Ben's girlfriend drove. She came and picked him up....long blonde hair...she sat outside and honked the horn. If her name was Cindy, then she was a different Cindy than the one he married. What kind of car is that? I love that car! What I wouldn't give to be able to take a spin in something like that with the top down on a nice, crisp autumn day!
Right now we have -0 temps and over a foot of snow on the ground. There were days we could hardly get out of the yard. Good thing we have 4wd. It's supposed to warm up in the next few days.

I also really like that long black car that Grandma's boyfriend came to visit in.

Hey ssMarilyn,
That red convertible was a 1939 or 1940 Ford.

I bet it would cost a small fortune to get a car like that. Do you have an old car?

ssMarilyn. Yes I have two older cars and two old pickups. 1969 Chevy Impala Convertible, 1953 Studebaker Pickup, 1978 Ford Ranchero and a 1951 Hudson that I am working on now and about to pull my hair out with it. There is saying that if the top goes down the price goes up. You might be surprosed at how cheap some of those old cars sell for. The cars now days that bring big money are the so called Muscle Cars. They are cars that came out of the factory with high performance big engines and sport packages in the late 50's though the early 70's.

At firstI thought Cindy's red convertible was a Ford. But the more I have looked at it, the more I think that it is a 39 or 40 Mercury (look at the length of the inscription on the sides of the hood and at the grill). Another car that appears in different venues in various episodes is a 39-40 two door green Studebaker with a rusty top; something that it should not have had in the time period of these episodes because it would have been a new car. Daisey Garner drives this car in at least one episode. Until recently I owned a 1940 Packard ("The silent boss of the road") and it was (still is) a fabulous car (Just "Ask the man who owns one"). Mr. McGill, I sold it to a friend who had been driving Hudsons. A number of Packards, as well as other high priced cars, appear on the Waltons. The car that I cannot identify, and I have asked about this before, is the car that the Baldwin sisters drive. Does anyone know what kind of car it is?

My uncle collected old cars and loved working on them. My brother-in-law is the same way. I remember once my uncle took us for a ride in a 1947 Chrysler. My aunt sold most of the cars after my uncle passed away. My grandfather I think mostly owned Chrysler cars. I think my brother-in-law restored or helped restore a car from around 1940.
