If you were going to be marooned on a desert island and could only bring three Walton’s episodes what would they be? I’d take The Love Story, The Sinner, and The Foundling I agree with "The Love Story" as a #1 choice. Never before or since did John Boy fall in love so deeply. It was a match made to endure forever. Why then did it not succeed? There was no way. Had it endured, there would be no "The Woman", no "The Wing Walker". no Daisy, no etc, etc. John Boy had to remain available for future episodes.

Hello all. I am a new member and recently discovered The Waltons during the pandemic. I'm so grateful to have finally found these episodes, especially because so much has changed since this show was first produced. Many of the traditional values espoused on the show are not highly esteemed anymore, and so I truly enjoy them all the more. I believe that's what all of you feel too My Top Three would be The Love Story, The Literary Man and The Sermon, but mostly the Love Story. The beautiful montage of John Boy and Jenny walking and loving each other to the song he played for her makes me cry. It was so beautifully portrayed and reminds me of my early life with my then fiancee' who is now my loving husband of 37 years. Jenny is a character with absolutely no guile. At first, I didn't think I liked her in the beginning of the show, but then I saw her loving soul and fell in love with her honesty and sweetness. I'm more sorry that Richard Thomas and Sian Barbara Allen didn't make it and I would be curious what you meant, Carol, about their breakup. It just sounds hard to imagine since they seemed to show such respect to one another on screen. (I know, that's great acting!!)

Here's a Sian Barbara quote dated 2013 from a website known as datalounge: Yes, I remember myself. I played Jenny Pendleton on "The Waltons" and they were among the happiest years of my life. I want to thank my fans who are kind enough to send me a birthday card every year! My younger sister has not only not died but is sitting across from me reading a book! My daughter is healthy and fine and is living down South. To the poster who doesn't like J.D. Salinger give me a break. Iam very active politically and am a member of the Bold Progressives. My love to Earl Hamner who wrote "The Love Story" and thanks to everyone who loves"The Waltons".Sian Barbara Allen by Anonymous reply 40 February 5, 2013 2:22 AM Another exert from the web wideopencountry: .....the beautiful love affair between Richard Thomas and Sian-Barbara Allen. Lately, they have been seen dating others, but we feel sure that when Richard Thomas' book of poetry is published this fall, several of the verses will memorialize the happy times he shared with Sian-Barbara. It was well-known that the two of them shared an intimate and loving relationship, though each declared openly that they wanted to further pursue their careers before marriage was even considered. Some friends privately asserted, however, that they thought Sian-Barbara would have been only too happy to least partially give up her career and settle down as Mrs. Richard Thomas."
