Could there ever be another movie? Although most of the adults have passed away, Olivia is living and the kids.

I think there would be an interest in such a movie among Waltons fans. It could center around the passing of John Walton with all the children coming home for the funeral. It would be the kind of movie I would be excited to watch, but then likely find it boring and be annoyed by all the inconsistencies.
At least that’s how I approached all the other reunion movies - excited for another opportunity to see the Walton family, disappointed that it turned out to be uninteresting, and spending my time posting here about things like “Where’s John Curtis?” “What did Virginia die from? “I thought Mary Ellen couldn’t have more children.” “Didn’t Ben and Cindy have another child-Charlie?”

Not to mention that the writers seemed to think John and Olivia had only been married 40 years in 1970 when they had their 25th anniversary in 1935.

William Atkins, shows references they were married in 1916 It should have been easy to maintain consistency, if the writers had all the facts & dates recorded in a master book, as they penned new scripts.

The reunion shows have never been as strong as the original series. That is true of "The Waltons" and all other shows that have attempted comebacks.

Sorry -- don't know why 1915 was stuck in my head.... Atkins also says they were married in 1910 when John was 20 (6th bullet in John section).... at 12th bullet, says John was 22... also says Olivia was married in 1916.... Much as Atkins can be a good source for many things, it's not always !!

I think Bill (Atkins) was just recording what he saw in various episodes and films. As we know, the information in the episodes was not always consistent. Bill leaves it up to the reader to make sense of it all. . .

He only did the first five or so years, right ? ... then, others took it over and, I hoped, tried to research/record more carefully ... perhaps not ! Somehow, I thought I knew this.... but, just went looking (briefly) and couldn't find any further info -- will keep trying.... I know I didn't dream it !

I think a limited series could work if Richard came back.
JB moving back to the mountain after John's death.
You couldnt have the whole original cast featured in every episode though.
They would have to deal with issues and maybe focus on some of the grandkids.
You would have to get good actors for the grandkids
maybe focus on JB bringing back "the blue ridge" and teaching a class at boatwright.
But I dont know if they would do it without Earl

I'd have to agree that a new series might be interesting if Richard Thomas wanted to do it. I really don't thinkl that it would amount to very much without him, but surely the other surviving cast could participate and would be most welcome and appreciated.
I'm the same age as him, and I know that I'd welcome a chance to relive old glory at a slower pace!
(As it is, I'm returning to full-time work next week!)

Richard participated in the 3 1990s TV movies, which were not strong compared to his years on the series. Perhaps he did it for sentimental reasons and for a chance to work with his friends. However, I do not think that he would want to do an ongoing reunion series, especially if it were to be trite or unmemorable, which is a real possibility since Earl is no longer around to fight for quality. He stays busy as a stage actor and as a guest star on various series.

I agree totally that he could not be tempted back... and, yes, he has always preferred stage work -- Shakespeare being his first choice. He is at a point in his life/career where he can make personal choices. ...... I have no idea why this annoying left column has appeared again, and I can't delete it !

If Richard wouldn't do it there is always Robert Wightman.
