AuntieEm , you haven't posted since August 7th. I hope everything is alright with you. The flooding in Louisiana is just heartbreaking. Are you and your family being affected by it? Thinking of you...

Hello, thanks for your concern. I'm okay. New Orleans "dodged the bullet" in that we got a fair amount of rain, but it was spread out, and we didn't get the hours of torrential downpours that affected people to the north, east and west of us. To think that just 25 miles away people faced major clean ups and less than 50 miles away lives have been turned upside down. The situation is still dire in areas - places that were dry early this morning, for example, are facing flooding now. What I and my family are trying to do is Pay it Forward. As we were helped after Hurricane Katrina, we are to help others now. Today I gathered supplies of cat and dog food and leashes and brought them to a collection site. Will get water bowls and hopefully a couple of crates for animals. This is because there are many pets now homeless, plus many animal shelters have been flooded out.
Tomorrow I'll be looking for clothing, namely underclothing and socks. And diapers. Maybe other items such as paper towels and bleach which have been requested. So much is needed, but thankfully it looks like people around here are eager to help in any way they can. How else to thank the "Cajun Navy", regular folks who took their boats out rescuing untold numbers of people and pets.

What a beautiful way to pay it forward. It's heartbreaking to see lives turned upside down like that. I would be devastated to lose my animals. Thank you for remembering them.

I saw the video of the woman and her dog who were saved from her sinking car. Thank God those men got there when they did.
