Could you ask Michael Learned if she noticed on the back of season 1 DVD set, that there is a picture of her smoking.? I noticed that a long time ago, and made a thread asking if anyone else noticed, and that got a little controversial, because it turned into a anti smoking thing. I'm just curious if she noticed that I just find it ironic that of all people to show holding a cigarette it would be mama Walton. It would have been funnier if they showed Ellen Corby smoking one. I am just curious if she saw that picture.

Ask Michael Learned if her normal hair color back then was the red it appeared in early seasons or the blond it appeared later on.

I think someone posted a picture of her (Ellen Corby) at a formal dinner (it was posted on this forum). The picture showed someone lighting a cigarette for her. This appeared to be after she had her stroke. Makes me wonder if the smoking contributed to it.

I would like to know if there were any topics they wished they would have covered or any they wished they hadn't. Also, I would like to know if any of the actors were "difficult at times to work with" ( and possibly deserving of Grandma's Bible verses punishment)

Please ask Michael what it was like to work with Robert Reed on "Nurse". Ask David Harper if he has any memories of filming the Civil War miniseries "The Blue and the Gray", also "Fletch". Did Cissy Wellman enjoy working with animals as Yancy's wife? Okay, over and out. Please tell everyone hi for me. Each year it is hard for me not to be able to attend, but it would be a hardship to attend since we live here in Ecuador.
As you know Michael Learned was unable to attend due to a family obligation.
I asked Cissy Wellman did she enjoy working with Yancy's animals. Her reply was: "Yes, as long as they behaved. Those chickens in that one episode, flapping everywhere." I assume she must mean "The Chicken Thief" Season 2 Ep. 6. She told me that she had recently tried raising a baby squirrel. She either said that it had fallen out of its nest or the tree had been cut down (can't remember which). Anyway, she said that it dragged its hind legs and she thought oh well if I can raise it, I can carry it. She just didn't want it to be in pain so she took it to a vet and they told her that it had a blood clot on its spine and that it was in pain and there was nothing they could do for it, so she had it put to sleep. She told me that she was a BIG animal lover.
David Harper (Jim Bob) joined us Friday night (10/16) for an hour at an impromptu question and answer session. I asked him if he could tell us anything about filming "The Blue and the Gray" or "Fletch". He never told us anything about Fletch but he told us several things about The Blue and the Gray. He played James Hale in it. Some of the things he told us:
He enjoyed being a part of it even though they had him playing a Northerner and having him die off early of dysentery. He filmed his parts at Fort Smith Arkansas. His agent arranged for him to stay on for two more weeks after his filming was done. He mentioned that Warren Oates and David Doyle was in it and that people remember David best as Bosley on Charlie's Angels. *Stacy Keach's room was above David's (Harper not Doyle) and Stacy's 'secretary' would visit Stacy quite often and David could 'hear' them. Girls found out what hotel the cast was staying at and they would be banging on their doors at all hours. He talked about what an honor it was to meet Gregory Peck (who played Abraham Lincoln in the film).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *Shame on Stacy Keach. This mini-series was shown on TV in November 1982 and it was filmed in the fall of 1981. Stacy had married Jill Donahue on 5/31/1981. Shame! Shame!

During the impromptu Q & A on Friday night (10/16/15) David Harper (Jim Bob) said that two of his favorite episodes are The Star and The Ghost Story.
The Star - Season 1 Ep. 6: Grandpa remains in bed, convinced his days are numbered, after he attaches a superstitious meaning to a meteor which crashes through the Baldwin ladies' house. But he's ready for righteous action when he learns of an outsider's attempt to exploit the superstitions of others.

The Ghost Story - Season 2 Ep. 21: "Spirits" conjured by a Ouija board predict a dire event involving a young visitor to the Walton home.
