I read your post and thought I'd throw this in the mix...I never use conditioner; never really had to. I alternate between Nexxus Frizz Defy shampoo and Organix Coconut Milk shampoo. A few months ago I noticed my hair would be oily and dirty the day after. I did some research and found that it was probably shampoo build up. Apple cider vinegar is supposed to strip the hair of this build up. Not wanting to deal with the smell, I decided to try Fekkai Apple Cider shampoo. It strips all the shampoo build up on your hair and it doesn't have a strong vinegar smell. I use it the first day of every month and follow with a dab of conditioner. I purchased it on Amazon for about $20. It is to be used sparingly, so a bottle will last a long time. Anyway, it has worked for me.

Hello Kathy Lee, Thank you for the tips. Actually I have nice regular hair, not coarse or thick. The problem whatever shampoo I use doesn't seem to work, my hair gets oily & greasy quickly, & then itchy.... I don't like to wash my hair too often. Frank suggests that I should have the hair style like Yul Brynner! haha Try washing with conditioner. My scalp gets itchy with shampoo. I guess it dries out my scalp. But conditioner does not do that. Yul Brenner! Tell Frank to shave his head first! Then we will make a decision about our hair!

Shiny Hair Conditioner Recipe 1 egg yolk 2 tablespoons rum 2 tablespoons olive oil 2 tablespoons grape seed oil Mix all ingredients until well blended. Massage mixture into hair and scalp. Cover head in plastic shower cap and then a warm towel (straight from the dryer). Wait thirty minutes and then wash and condition hair as usual. And and you only though I had great recipes for pies!!!!!

"Shampoo build" up is a marketing term to get us to spend more money. What is really happening is the pH is wrong for your hair. Get a 1/8 teaspoon (or less or slightly more) of baking soda and put it in the palm of your hand and add the shampoo that is "building up" and kinda mix it together before slathering on your head (only wash your scalp). Shampoo only that hair that is close to the scalp. Condition only that hair that isn't close to the scalp. Because of our drought, I learned the best way to wash hair and save water. I fill the sink up with water and wet my hair while it is filling. Once filled I apply shampoo and wash my scalp (water is off and I am only applying enough shampoo to wash my scalp). Using a suitable container (mine is my plastic 4.5 measuring cup) rinse scalp with water in sink. Wring out hair. Apply conditioner to long hair away from scalp. Gently comb out hair while conditioner is conditioning (bringing pH back to the correct level) and rinse (yes, with the same sink water you used to wash your scalp) using your suitable container to pour sink water on to long hair. I'll try to find the 1940's government movie that shows how to wash hair. Best money the government ever spent.

Hello flyaway, Thank you very much for the tips!! Actually I don't have problems with my hair, just that whatever shampoo I use, my hair gets dirty quickly & then of course itchy (but not crazy itchy), & I don't like to have to wash my hair so often. Anyway, thanks a lot, will try your suggestion. Take care
Just get Frank to wash your hair. If you do, I bet he lets you paint his fingernails! As if he would EVER let you do THAT! hahahahaha

However you have now put ideas into her head and I'm keeping one eye open when I sleep over the next few days. Don't want to wake up one morning looking like this or this eeeeeew..having my fingernails like that. What is seen now cannot be unseen. lol
