Job Moonie (Gary Grubbs) the guy who kidnapped Elizabeth in The Hostage and his mother Eula Mae (Fran Ryan)
Also the moonshiners from The Search where Olivia, Elizabeth and Jim Bob run off the road and get a flat tire then get lost. Helen Craig played the woman who made Olivia and the kids go with them then dump them off in the middle of nowhere.

It sounds as if most of us did not like characters that were spoiled and UnWaltonlike. Or just plain unlikeable. Remember, however, that the actors had to be good players to make us dislike their characters so much. (In most cases, that is. A bad actor can earn our scorn, of course, via bad acting.)

Not exactly a guest character but I never liked the second Aimee. The one who appeared in the 80's reunion movies.

I deeply disliked Sarah-Jane Simmon's mother....I just abhor pious, sanctimonious types like that character whose minds harbour more dirty thoughts about sex and sin than those they accuse of doing such.
(The ep. where Mary-Ellen washes Erin's hair). I forget his name but that army guy who came calling to see Mary-Ellen after Curt was 'killed' (not the Hispanic guy) and he clearly wanted to latch onto his friend's widow. M-E tried to palm him off onto Erin but he made it obvious he was after his friend's widow and hung around like a bad smell. I found him creepy and annoying in the way he couldn't take the hint from M-E.

I didn't dislike Sarah Jane's mother, but I can understand why people would dislike her. I felt sorry for her and pitied her. She had been widowed and left with a child to raise alone. There were really no resources for women in those circumstances back in those days if they had no family to help them. Most women remarried out of necessity. I think Sarah's mother was just bitter about her unfortunate life and it showed in her attitude. I think she had a soft side that she was afraid to let anyone see because she thought it would make her look weak and she wanted to give the appearance of being strong. She finally gave in to it when Sarah came down from the mountain with her baby. She took Sarah in her arms and said, "my baby." It was the first sign of affection toward Sarah that she had ever shown, but I think it had been there all along.

Mr Reed the book salesman (5ft Shelf). A deeply unpleasant, dishonest character if ever there was one.

I have to go with Cousin Wade. There was something about his attitude that rubbed me the wrong way in the Conflict and then of course, he was a jerk in The Estrangement. I refuse to believe the character was going to turnaround and suddenly become a stand up guy if his base was rooted in such a "me against the world" attitude.

Tip Harrison (John Walton's war buddy) Alvira Drummond Graham Foster (The man who John Boy was collecting rent money for) The rival lumber company guys ( that Grandpa tricks them to put their lumber of the river) The creepy guy who wanted to paint a portrait of Erin.
dowsee, did you know that one of the rival lumber company guys (Grier) was played by David Harper's step-father, Paul Harper?

Curt's sister and that substitute teacher who talked kind of strange and was so stuffy. Never could figure out why Curt's sister had such an outrageous accent and he had NONE.

I also don't like Muffin. I found both Hanover kids to be irritating in The Spoilers. Sis Bradford in The Beguiled was too much to take. Note: I did not like the character; I love Darleen Carr who played her.
