Catherine Burns in the Substitute I didn't like the way she treated the kids can't remember the teachers name she was playing. Nothing about her acting just the character. I agree with you. She was unfair to the children, unfriendly to the adults, and just wasn't a nice person. I kind of felt sorry for her, though, and thought it was maybe the result of her upbringing. She said her father was an educator who pioneered those methods, or something like that. Maybe she was raised that way and didn't really know any other way to treat people. The good thing about her was she learned from her mistakes and became a well-liked teacher in the end.

To be honest, I can't stomach to watch the episode where Callie comes to town and tries to cozy up to John. It just feels - dirty - and so wrong. I couldn't stand that Muffin kid either.

In "The Heartbreaker", Curt's sister comes to Walton's Mountain to visit on her way to Nashville to pursue a singing career, and then Jason falls in love with her. That woman was so ditzy and an annoying throughout the entire episode! Hi glenn!! Good to see you on here again i agree completely. That episode is almost unwatchable for me. Thanks! It's good to be back!

That little Muffin scam artist in "The Big Brother".
John Walton's sour faced tyrant of a new boss in "John's Crossroad"
In "The Illusion", Verdi Foster's daughter comes home after being snubbed by her former employers because of her race. One can sympathize with her plight, but she comes across as an extremely hostile person. She even threatened J.D. Pickett with legal action if he didn't hire her. Kind of over the top, I would think. She just leaves me with a bad impression, even though I sympathize with her. That one could be open to debate.
That shyster property owner who John Boy works for as his rent collector, whichever episode that one is.
That pious woman who introduces Reverend Fordwick to Walton's Mountain in "The Sinner".
The character who played Curt (forgot which episode) after Curt was discovered alive
That college girl who forces John Boy off the road in town and then makes trouble for him and Jim Bob in "The Beguiled".
That thieving Ham guy and his son in "The Dust Bowl Cousins".
That Male chauvinist who plans to marry Martha Woolery in "The Emergence".

Catherine Burns in the Substitute I didn't like the way she treated the kids can't remember the teachers name she was playing. Nothing about her acting just the character. She played Miss Pollard, the sub teacher Linda Purl's character in 'The Heartbreaker' was by far the most annoying character, guest or otherwise, in the whole series. In my opinion anyway. I find her use of certain facial expressions irritating ( actress Helen Hunt does the same thing)....that frown/stare thing she does and that extremely 'hick' southern drawl which makes her sound like a 3rd rate extra from Gone with the Wind. I know she is a proven actress but she really makes that particular episode hard to watch. Oh...and then that darn song Jason teaches her and they sing it over and over..... Other reallllly annoying guesties: Muffin Girl Selena (both her episodes are my least favourites) Marsha Woolery Sis Bradford Ann Norton (wife of Curtis) - she always struck me as being a woman with some kind of mental illness that in real life would have posed challenging problems for a husband.

I think the Son Slater episode is my least favorite guest character. That entire story was disturbing.

That uppity old bag who wouldn't let Josh play his trumpet in a festival because he was black in "The Festival".
I thought Selena was a bit of a spoiled brat.

What's that family name? They came from the city. The mother, didn't know how to work the stove/cook. The young lady & young man, was annoying. The family name was Hanover in the episode The Spoilers. The girl was played by Linda Purl, same actress who played Vanessa. Thank you, for the reminder. Which episode was Vanessa in?

I'm a little bit in the dark with two characters. Who was Son Slater and Sis Bradford? Son Slater was the guy who raped a young woman living alone up on the mountain while her husband was away serving in the Army. Sis Bradford was the conceited girl who drove recklessly and hit John Boy's car, ruining his tire. Then she stole his notebook and let Jim Bob's friend Danny take the blame. I can't remember the title of either episode. Edited:Son Slater was in The Violated (season 8).Sis Bradford was in The Beguiled (season 3).

It sounds as if most of us did not like characters that were spoiled and UnWaltonlike.

That boy Hobie (I think). He wanted to be a baseball player. I seem to recall he may have stayed with the Walton's as a foster child (pre-series, when he and JohnBoy and Jason, etc. were considerably younger). He just seemed really arrogant about his abilities.
