So .... Does anyone remember any July 4th celebration on "The Waltons" ?? As I sat on the porch this AM, having coffee, I was listening to the birds, the quiet and all of a sudden there was a train horn off in the distance and of course I thought of the train going the tressel at the Rock Fish River ! ! ! Wow ! ! ! Such as nice morning

When Ben was in the POW camp, and he made that American flag and hoisted up on the flagpole, was that supposed to be the 4th of July? I can't remember

There are some references to the 4th of July in the episode The Pursuit.
Ben and his buddies were in the POW camp taking laundry off the line. Ben started stuffing pieces of clothing, etc, into his shirt. One of the guys said, "What are you doing, Ben?" Ben replied, "Getting ready for the 4th of July, whenever that is."
Later, after Ben had made the flag and put it up on the flagpole, he sang the first couple of lines of "The Star Spangled Banner." One of the guys said, "Are you sure it's the 4th of July?" Ben answered, "It is if we say it is."
After Ben was caught and led away by the Japanese, one of the guys called out to him, "Happy 4th of July, Ben."
