Like Brenda's friends from England we had never seen them before we visited Virginia. I loved them.

Like Brenda's friends from England we had never seen them before we visited Virginia. I loved them. Lightning bugs are all over where I live. At night, I can see dozens of them blinking in the yard. Sometimes I see them in the day but not too often. They are about a half inch long. They are bugs that fly rather slow and floaty. It is easy to catch them and they will sit on your hand. They don't bite or anything like that.

I love lightning bugs! I was getting worried the last few years I hadn't seen any, but they seem to be coming back to my area. Kind of like the honeybee - I've been worried they're disappearing, too.

A few other people mentioned that they are seeing less lightning bugs also. I wonder why there are less bugs? Too many chemicals?

I was feeling left out because I hadn't seen any and I just saw one flying around my picture window! My first one of the season.

Our area never had them, so I never saw one till I was ten.

I grew up in California and I now live the Arizona in the Sonora Desert. I've never seen a firefly or a lightning bug in my life!
