Just now watching The Bequest, one of my favorites, and I'm struck at what an incredible show this is. The acting, the writing, depth of characters. And what amazing story Earl Hamner shared with us- his young life story. No matter how many times I see it - I love it all the more! It makes me cry- all the time!
And also how much Richard was perfect to portray John- Boy, in Earl's story. Such depth. As well as all the actors- ! Ralph, Michael, Will, Ellen, the Children, all of them!
I love this show- When I grow up I want to be a Walton!

Well young'n I coulda been one. I was in the vicinity growing up. Near some mines and such. But I taked off at 14 to ride the trains in 44. So it was a helluva time to be alive. But the show really does bring a sense of comfort. I once talked to some kids who were from wrecked homes and runaways and such. They were going yo all kick in and buy a huge house in that area and start their own family together and be a Walton-esque kind of commune. But I think nothing came of it.
