The only antique I own is my mom's old sewing machine cabinet and I believe she got it from my dad's mother. I love looking at antiques but I must admit, am a little scared to own them. Guess I watch too many paranormal TV shows like 'Haunted Collector'. They claim that energy can remain with objects and cause activity within your home.

We've got antiques all over our house, and nobody has any energy around here lately. My mother had my grandmother's Singer treadle machine. My sister has it now. My sister also has an old pump organ that belonged to my grandfather. My mother had a beautiful bed that was made by my great grandfather who fought in the Civil War. My daughter has it now. Most of the antiques we have were bought at antique stores.

That is a really nice stove. Such a pretty color! Mine does not have the side water tank. I wonder how many stoves had the water tank and how many did not.

Here is something for the corner of the kitchen. My Aunt had on of these back in the 60's My grandparents had one. After they got a "modern" washer my grandfather removed the wringer and they used it for a cooler when we had family reunions. Filled it with soda and beer cans and ice and it stayed cold all day.

I am fascinated by the 1930s. The most horrible period of American history with the Great Depression causing so much hardship, but so much history. I like the cars, the fashion, the use of so much real wood before plastic took over. Woody Guthrie, Will Rogers, the Dust Bowl, The Grapes of Wrath. I love those iceboxes, I wish I had one!

I would love an icebox. Have seen them for sale but nice ones are pretty expensive.

1930's Ice Box That is really nice! That would match my wood burning stove. Do you have any information on the icebox? Make, etc?

When my father was young, I would say in his 20s (1930's) he delivered ice with a horse and ice cart. Wish someone had take pictures.
