He got his bedroom back! "Ike asked me to marry him! And I said yeeeees! " (Cora Beth runs from room sobbing.)

I love how they always add something special (saw a bird, etc.) that happened during the day.

as Elizabeth said..."Grandpa always thanks God for the Trailing Arbutus..." I often wodered what Trailing Arbutus looked liked. Is that really a picture of it? If it is, it is beautiful. Thanks for sharing that bit of loveliness.

According to Google, yes, that is it! Wouldn't it look pretty with Edelweiss from the Sound of Music?

I loved how he so often thanked God for the trailing arbutus (sp) and then he on occasion would end a prayer with 'Amen and Ahwomen..'

I have a small wooden music box given to me as a gift by an elderly neighbor when I was 8 years old and it plays Edelweiss. I still rememeber him saying, " Little girls should have pretty things to listen to." Hard to believe that was 46 years ago. The music box is about an inch and a half tall, about two and a half inches wide and two and a half inches long. It still plays beautifully and looks brand new. I sometimes can still recall his cigar fragrance. He was such a kind man. God bless him.

I was given a cookbook from a friend of my parents. She was such a wonderful lady...she gave me too my first box of chocolates. That was over 40 yrs ago as well...sweet memories!

Memories are wonderful. It's the one thing that can never be taken away from you. Even in our waning years, the memories will still be present in our hearts and God willing also in our minds.
