If I ever hear anyone mention the Waltons on T.V or even at work or something, my ears perk up, and I kind of get a weird feeling, like excited and curious, and I always think..." Huh, you have no idea how much I love that show, know that show, and talk about that show...with my forum friends!" Me too! "Where are you going?" - someone at work "Oh, a trip to Virginia for a reunion to see friends." - me "What kind of reunion?" - someone "Just a reunion with friends." - me (Feeling just a little weird admitting I have a Walton addiction! Well you weren't lying!!

Last night I was watching CBS - "NCIS:Los Angeles". At the end of the show the NCIS agents were talking to each other and started saying goodnights to each other Walton style, including "Goodnight John Boy." I was like WOW! Because NCIS:Los Angeles is a show popular with the teen to young adult crowd. I wondered how much of the audience got it and how many of them that it went right over their heads?!?
Maybe some of the shows writers grew up with the Walton shows. Wouldn't it be nice if their references are Googled by the teen and young adult crowd? The way most shows are today with all of the vulgar language, inappropriate dress, violence, crude and explicit behavior it would be refreshing to see the teens and young adults viewing the Waltons. The Waltons deal with the same struggles that all kids grow up with such as differing opinions than their parents, responsibilities, school clicks, first loves, heartbreak, what is appropriate and inappropriate dress, behavior and actions, consequences to actions one chooses, sibling rivalry, financial issues, world issues and national responses, pride of family and country, wanting to be older than you are, experimenting with smoking and liquor, etc. As you know we could go on and on regarding the topics the show and family deal with. It would be GREAT for these teens and young adults to see WHAT LIFE REALLY IS ALL ABOUT. After all, we grew up with the Waltons and we turned out to be good, kind, caring people who are family connected, country proud, people of faith, respectful and as Olivia once said, " Young people have a way of finding one another ". We all found each other and I for one feel better for having met all of you. It would be wonderful to expose those coming up next to this type of life. Not sure if I had mentioned this but...my friend's daughter is in her 20s. She used to come over and help me clean the house (she used to clean houses before she got a full-time job). I guess I had The Waltons on many times when she was over, as I often have it on even if it's just in the "background." She told me I got her hooked on it and now she watches it all the time. My small contribution to the future. lol

There has to be more fans than us, It's on 3 channels several times a day. Most fans probably don't use the internet for message boards. Stopped by to check on something and saw this thread. Yes, others watch this program. On a blog post a week or so ago from a political/spiritual site, the blogger said that The Waltons and Green Acres were his children's favorite programs. (He doesn't have cable or satellite; he has Apple TV and downloaded the episodes from iTunes) In the comments section there were numerous posts praising The Waltons. The most critical comment I read was one that criticized the modern hairstyles by the actors, but also noted that The Waltons holds up better watching today than current dramas. EM PS. What's the third channel besides Hallmark and INSP?
The UP channel was recently showing episodes of The Waltons, but they have stopped for the moment.

He said that UP shows a marathon of the Homecoming on Thanksgiving but he doesn't think they run the episodes during the day.

Well you weren't lying!! That is true! A lot of my conversation start, " I have this friend in New York State (or, West Virginia, Alabama, etc.)...." Right there with you on that one Kathy. I look at it this way...I have my "private life", I have my "public life" and then I have my "private public life". My private life and public life is self explanatory. My "private public life" refers to parts of my private life that I share publicly with certain people who share common interests, hobbies, values, concerns etc and who really "get me". Incase you all are wondering.....that's all of you! You all make me so happy and I feel so blessed to be able to share your journeys with you and to have all of you on my journey too.
