Looking back at the TV show throughout it's run, I was trying to come up with what sports the Waltons played. I remember when Hobie Shank came and wanted to be a pro ball player until he falls from the treehouse. I know the Walton's went swimming...and John Boy raced blue.
But what other sports did they play?

Originally, the word "sport" referred to things like fishing and hunting.... baseball, football, tennis, etc., were "games" ....
So, I guess we need to include fishing and hunting.

So, I guess we need to include fishing and hunting. Proof? Only because fishing and hunting were originally a way to provide meat for the table. It was after it became easier to let someone else grow and kill the meat that I would have thought that fishing and hunting became a sport. I do not think fishing and hunting were a sport for the Waltons at that time

Of course, hunting and fishing were not "sport" to the Waltons.

Geez jeri I don't need to chill. I just wasn't clear with you saying that hunting and fishing WAS a sport and that it needed to be added to the list of sports the walton's played. Now you are saying that hunting and fishing are NOT a sport?

What about baseball? Didn't Mary Ellen have a mitt attached to her during her tomboy days?
I was watching a PBS series where they mention some of the early "games" of the colonial times. "Stone The Bird" was one of those games! Thankfully, we've become more humane in our ways of entertaining ourselves.
Wonder what Bug Crush Saga would have looked like?!! LOL (Anyone here a fan of Candy Crush Saga?)

Not so much a "fan" of Candy Crush Saga as an "addict". I'll play it for a while then decide, maybe an hour later, this is absolutely the last time! Periodically I'll delete it from my iPad for a while until the itch comes back a few weeks later...

I love that commercial, especially when the candy pings her cup. I also like the one with the white haired old lady that posted photos on her actual wall. If you go to www.drpepper.com they have a free game called sweet swap that is just like candy crush saga except theirs has dr pepper cans, doughnuts, ice cream cones, peppermints, butterscotches, etc. I enjoy playing dr pepper's. When you go to the Dr Pepper site, click on entertainment at the top, then at the bottom of that page you will see sweet swap & click on it.

I saw a basketball hoop at the Waltons school a couple of times but I never saw a game played They played dodgeball when Elizabeth was injured in the Ordeal and she stopped the ball with her crutches making her teacher smile.
