It doesn't take long to log in every time but it's still a pain I would like to avoid, thanks.

For me, there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to how long it decides to keep me logged in.... sometimes it will be good for a day or two, sometimes just an hour or so.... and doesn't seem to matter what I've done online in between times.... just another weird pc thing

When you log into a website and choose the option to stay logged in or to remember your information, the webpage stores a cookie on your browser. If you aren't saying logged in, it means the cookie is probably expiring. My guess is it's some kind of setting on your browser that is causing the cookie to expire. Someone with more knowledge about browsers and cookies and how they work might be able to explain it better.

Lately several websites have taken an attitude with me, complaining my browsers aren't updated. I have two computers (tower and laptop) and each one has the very latest browser it is capable of supporting. To get a newer one I would have to buy a new computer. It may have something to do with this. I did find the "Remember Me" box so perhaps this will work, thanks.

Lately several websites have taken an attitude with me, complaining my browsers aren't updated. It may have something to do with this. I did find the "Remember Me" box so perhaps this will work, thanks. One good thing about my pc is that it's supposedly a good, powerful one which was set up by the IT dept. at my last job.... every "tech" who has worked on it tells me to keep it going as long as possible !! ... The latest thing that "kills me" is that problems worsened dramatically when I had it updated last spring -- to the latest of everything -- Microsoft made it sound like you it was totally necessary to update to Windows 8.1, and msn practically insisted I update to their latest version, too..... so, I did -- and now wish I hadn't !!
I think my problems are created largely because I don't need all the bells and whistles Microsoft thinks I need -- I'm probably never going to listen to music through the pc, and seldom any videos of any length.... also no longer need sophisticated graphics programs, etc., etc. -- Once again, the largest part of our population (senior citizens) are IGNORED ... although some "simple" computers are available for "grandparents", they are insultingly simplistic... we're not complete idiots !!! ... maybe, some wonderful day, there will be a nice middle-of-the-road system which will be suitable for older folks like me.
And, before anyone screams at me for continuing with Dial-Up -- most of the time, it's no problem.... I'm retired, have plenty of time, and am old enough not to have grown up needing instant gratification for everything all the time.... patience has always played a large role in my life !!! ... and I'm PROUD of it ... when the powers that be decide Dial-Up will no longer be available, I shall cut off my nose to spite my face and give up on computers FOREVER
