21. You spend one weekend every October in the Blue Ridge Mountains with a bunch of other Waltons addicts.

- Whenever someone comes to your house, your sister tell them about the time they kissed Ashley Longworth...every time they come to your house - You named all of your kids "Jim-Bob" - Or if had 7 kids and you named them all the Waltons kids names...even if all 7 kids were girls. - If your name is Jane, you named your first son "Jane boy"

When you are planning your house you make your kitchen look like The Waltons...ie: Possum belly table (bakers table) as an island, glass cupboard knobs, etc. Oh yeah...front porch complete with swing!

"10. You would pack up and move to a town where you could buy gasoline, play pool, and receive your mail all in one place."
This one cracks me up because that is exactly the place I live at now in Tumalo. LOL
I would also add....
"Whenever you hear or think about the theme from The Waltons, you can't wait to get back home to pop in a DVD and watch the show"
"You have named some or all of your chickens after the characters" (Yes. I have roosters named John, Ben, Jason and Ralph. I named the last one Ralph after Ralph Waite died. I can't name my hens because they are Buckeyes and all look the same. LOL)
"You had new windows put in your home that look like the ones on the Walton's home" (you all saw photos of mine posted here when I did it)
I could go on.

. "Your idea of a night out on the town is hanging out at the Dew Drop Inn."
Uh, that place is better than most of my hang outs.

When you are away from your house and say to yourself "I wonder what Mary Ellen and the other girls are doing today" and decide to go home and find out. The line from real family and tv family is very blurred.

When you're in your sixties and a friend calls you a "groupie" after enthusiastically telling her about planning to attend a Walton's reunion in Virginia. Now, a "groupie" is normally a young "chick" who follows a pop music group around, and that sure isn't me! Another Google definition says it's an "enthusiastic follower." That I am..... a proud follower and lover of one of television's most wonderful and beloved series ever.

I did this once when I joined an organization and had to walk into a large, crowded meeting room for my first meeting. I told myself that JB would have had to do the same thing in life and to just go inside.

I dreamed about meeting the cast of "The Waltons" during the original run and then I ended up meeting most of them, starting with Michael Learned way back in 1993.
I named my pet guinea pig Olivia when I was in junior high, and now, believe it or not, I live in Ecuador, a country that follows the Incan custom of eating guinea pigs (and yes, I like eating guinea pig). My mother-in-law raises them. We mostly eat them on special days, such as birthdays. They are common wedding fare as well.
I wrote to Earl Hamner in eighth grade and asked him if he would read a script I wrote for "The Waltons." He kindly wrote back and said that they worked only with a small group of writers, declining to read my script. But I was delighted that he wrote back.
In fifth grade I started writing to all the Walton cast members. Some of them wrote me letters back, including Merie Earle (Maude Gormley), Robert Donner (Yancy Tucker) and Rachel Longaker (Aimee Godsey). I received pictures back from many others.

Have I said this before ?
I bet you could take ANY EPISODE from the 1ST 5 Seasons, and play it ANY POINT DURING THE EPISODE, and I could name the Episode in less than a Minute without looking at ANYTHING. No Google
For example: You could press Play on the dvd randomly at The 35 minute mark , and I could name the correct episode.
I'm talking ANY episode at ANY time during the John Boy Years.

Nice to hear from you -- and, thanks for the recap (especially for new forum members!)
Can you describe what guinea pig tastes like ? .... how is it used in recipes ?
