Just finished packing. Warm clothes, warm socks, gloves, rain jacket, boots, something nice for Friday and Saturday night, maps, AAA Travel book, car washed, suitcases in car, things to get signed, water, snacks, husband, kitchen sink......anything else? Lewis and Clark packed less for their trip West! I should have asked this sooner but...you guys aren't getting super dressed up Fri. and Sat. nights are you? I'm going to be pretty casual on Friday (jeans) and probably tights and boots and a nice top for Sat. night.
I am envious that you're packed already! It's 9 p.m. here and I'm just about to eat a quick dinner, then finish cleaning the first floor of the house and then heading upstairs to pack and see what last minute laundry I need to do. Just finished writing out instructions for the pet sitter.
Last year we barely made the tail end of the meet and greet so we just rushed in straight from the parking lot with what we traveled in. We didn't even check into the hotel until after it was over. I was wearing gray sweatpants and a gray t-shirt. For the reunion dinner Mr. Forever and I both wore blue jeans. He wore a nice dress shirt and I wore a nice blouse (it was nice to me anyways ).
We are planning on leaving 3 to 3 1/2 hours earlier than we did last year. So if all goes as planned we should arrive between 3:00 to 3:30 p.m. ET on Friday.

Not trying to say that I think you have it easy...but I also have to make sure that on Thursday my five youngest foreverettes have their school homework done, pick my youngest daughter up from basketball practice & cook supper, school clothes for Friday, costumes & treat bags for trick-or-treating Friday night, play clothes for the weekend, church clothes, etc. I still have to write out instructions for our house/pet sitter. I am also packing for Mr. Forever and myself tomorrow. I just need to make sure I don't forget my GPS or my camera.

Just finished writing out instructions for the pet sitter.I had asked the same question a few weeks ago because I was not sure either. We are bringing casual, warm things for the days and traveling. For the night events, I am wearing simple cotton dresses (I am usually a dress person).

Made me think that is what is going on in your house! Just got out my camera! Almost forgot it!

Lewis and Clark packed less for their trip West! For Jeri. There was a TV show called "Lois and Clark" in the 1990s...i.e Lois Lane and Clark Kent. That's the pop culture reference here. I will have to use that at school when we get to Westward Expansion. I wonder if the kids will get the joke?

I owe the "foreverettes" and also "Mr. Forever's" name to forum member Clyde. Dummy me had never thought of it. We met Clyde and her husband back in February. In her post afterwards that is the name she gave them...I love it...thanks Clyde!

We're leaving tomorrow morning, but I'm not sure what time. It is about a 4 to 4½ hour drive for us with no stops. However, we plan to stop a couple of times along the way. We should be there sometime in the afternoon. Safe travels to everyone!

You wouldn't believe how many times I make actual lists for everyone and then go over them again and again in my mind. So far in 18 years as a parent in all our trips and adventures...only once have I forgotten something...an alarm clock. We ended up not needing it because the hotel had wake up service.
Now wait and see...I've jinxed myself and will leave several things behind.

Last year (very close to this time actually), we went to Gettysburg for a long weekend. It's about a 4 hour drive for us. When we were about 45 minutes away from the B&B, there was a sudden and loud exclamation from the passenger seat where my boyfriend was sitting. He said he forgot the suitcase on the front porch. I was mildly amused until I found out it was MY suitcase. We made a few frantic calls to see how much it would cost a messenger service to bring it down and since they weigh it, the cost was prohibitive. He of course said...just go buy some new clothes. But it's not that easy for me to find stuff "off the rack." Plus, we were going riding on the battlefield and I had packed my riding helmet, paddock boots, riding gloves, etc. And my medication. And my computer. I ended up making a deal with my friend's son. He went to the house and drove it down to us and we had it by 9 p.m. (I paid him handsomely for his trouble, but it was well worth it.) The funny part is that as soon as I realized it was my suitcase, my stricken boyfriend looked at me and said, "You shouldn't have asked me to do so many things at once." I looked at him and said, very quietly...."That's really not the approach you want to take to this, is it?"
It all ended well and we had a great time. But we'll be double checking the back of the car before we pull out of the driveway tomorrow.
