I shave my legs. (With my mom's help) Since, I can't bend, I need help. Since, I'm swimming for therapy. I don't want see hairy legs. My hair grows so fast. I use electric shaver instead of straight edge shaver. Cause, the straight edge shaver made my legs bleed. Even, when my legs were wet.
My hair is natural wave. For like special occasions, I'll have it curl for like weddings or other special event.
I've my upper lip and chin waxed. Cause of my PCOS. My mom does it.

I always wax my eyebrows and upper lip...yes, it hurts too! I love nail polish, and and I usually at least wear foundation and mascara. I've never tried a girdle, but I have tried spanx. Not very fun I don't wear spanx anymore, because I do lift weights...lots of them!

The only place I ever seen hair rollers nowadays is at the beauty salon.

I remember my momma wearing a girdle. My maternal grandmother would always wear curlers in her hair at night (soft thin wire ones), unless she had been to the beauty shop. Then she would wrap her head in toilet paper before going to bed and use a metal clip to hold the toilet paper in front. I have some of those flat metal spring clips for memories.
Neither of my grandmothers wore makeup or nail polish. My momma has always only wore foundation and occasionally uses just clear nail polish. So I am personally happy to be a plain Jane. I don't wear makeup or nail polish. I don't do manicures or pedicures.
I've never dyed my hair nor do I ever intend to (I look forward to playing Mrs. Santa Claus ). I have had the same haircut/style for the past 31 years. The only exception was when I first got married and we started trying to have children. Mr. Forever loves long hair and I told him that I would grow mine out (just in the back) until I got pregnant. I did that for two to three years. When we found out that we would probably never have a child of our own, I whacked it off! I love just towel drying it and then letting it air dry. Mr. Forever has said numerous times that was the first thing that he found attractive about me...that I was a natural woman. LOL! His momma never wore makeup or dyed her hair and she never once in her life shaved her legs.
My 18 year old daughter does wear hot curlers in her hair from time to time.
patriciaanne - I have always went out with a wet head too, no matter what time of the year it is or what the weather is like.
Note: I am not saying that anything is wrong with makeup, nail polish, manicures, pedicures, dyeing your hair, etc. I just personally have never gotten into it, and that has definitely saved a lot of my time and money . Looks like there will be three of us in the wet hair in the morning club! Except I will be shaving my legs! My natural hair is black and if I did not shave....yikes! Yes, I'm into full hair control myself. Except I gave up shaving. I apparently have these little invisible bumps on my legs that I can't see, but when I shave, I look like a homicide victim. Lovely. So I gave that up and now I go to the day spa to get waxed.

LOL! I bought one of those spanx (girdle) and wore it with a dress to smooth out my lumps and bumps! I was like Lucille Ball putting the stupid thing on! LOL, I felt so foolish but couldn't help sharing my experience with you all! Needless to say after the struggle to get out of it I have never worn it since! That moment when you feel like you might be stuck in it forever is very scary, isn't it??? "Hello 911...you're not going to believe this but....."

I do shave my legs and my armpits. I have never been in a tanning bed in my life. I am happy to glow in the dark.

Oh no, tanning bed here either!!! I would NEVER go to a tanning bed. However, I did get a spray tan one year. Not sure I would bother doing that again either. Would you believe my friend owns a tanning bed? I don't even sunbathe in the real sun--haven't since I was 19 years old (you know...just a few years ago. )

I don't think any, certainly not many, women do nearly as much primping these days -- it was a different era.... Now we are stuck with the People of Walmart look. www.peopleofwalmart.com/

I know some people who shave once a week or never shave. I shave my legs every day. Sigh! The funny thing Is I have no hair on my arms. Thankful for that!

I bought one of those spandex, slimming bathing suits. It looked great and really sucked in the tummy. Then...I made the big, big, big mistake of pulling it down to go to the bathroom . It was wet and I just... could... not... pull... it... back... up . Not good when you are down the shore in a public bathroom. I wrestled with that thing forever before it was back in place. Never wore it again!

I never tan either. My mother was against it and even though people thought she was weird, she saved my skin. Most people who tanned a lot have lots of sun spots and cancer spots. At my school, one teacher had a spot taken off her cheek, the nurse just had a spot taken off her temple, and the maintenance woman just had a spot taken off her ear. Thank you Mom for keeping me out of the sun!
