The campaign has been extended with new perks recently added by Richard Thomas and Mary McDonough. Funds raised to date total $30,838.00, with 13 days remaining to donate!
This campaign just ended a few hours ago. Sadly, even with the extension and new perks it only raised $37,719.00, just 30% of the funds they were hoping to raise. I just don't understand , when this campaign first started and I saw that all they needed to raise was $125,000.00, I just knew it would be raised in a blink of an eye because of all I read online about people still being BIG Walton's fans and even younger people discovering the show.
I don't know if it wasn't advertised via online well enough, people just not realizing that every $5.00 helps, or the economy/recession is hurting way too many people. I wonder how much it would have helped if news stations had done a snippet about it and certain magazines had written an article about Mr. Hamner and the fundraiser - Good Housekeeping, People, etc.

I'm with you, foreverwaltons. I am surprised that they were unable to raise the full $125,000. If I remember correctly, though, I think that in the beginning stages the lowest "perk" listed on the indigogo site was $35 for the DVD. I'm wondering if people didn't realize they could donate less. I don't think it was until much later that they added the $5 and $10 donation tabs. And, I don't think it was very clear that you could choose to donate ANY amount. That wasn't evident until you selected something and were taken to the payment page. Also, given the large number of Richard Thomas fans that seem to be out there, I'm surprised that no one bought the perk to meet him, especially given how quickly Michael Learned's was snatched up.
I agree the campaign probably suffered from a lack of awareness. I only saw info about it here and in a Facebook group. They very likely only reached a small percentage of fans. It would have been nice if they could have secured a little ad on INSP and Hallmark channels, since both air The Waltons. I don't think it was even mentioned on their websites.

They probably should have come up with a special Christmas card or something, charged $5-10 and pocketed $4-8.... maybe that would have raised the money.... can't believe they're dropping it completely.... hopefully just "on hold" for a while.

Sorry, too, that they did not reach their goal, but at least they were able to raise SOME money towards their project.

You are right, advertising would have made a big difference. I wonder it they could get the campaign out on tv some how? An interview on a news station or morning show might help.
