The article states that his wife secretly recorded the conversation. Isn't it illegal to record a conversation without the knowledge and consent of all the parties involved? Depends on what state you're in. What a sad thing to find out. Now the network may pull those re-runs of Seventh Heaven. What a shame because it's such a good show.

Pulling 7th Heaven off the air, cause of what happen. They didn't pull Michael Jackson's music off the air, when he was accused of molesting boys. Glad we got some 7th Heaven on DVD.

I too agree that Seventh Heaven is a good show and that they shouldn't pull it off the air. What are they going to do, never air anything he has been in? That would be a shame. I cannot condone his behavior and think it is criminal if he did those vile acts. The tape certainly sounds like his voice though. Of course he won't be charged with anything because the statute of limitations is 10 years from remembering the act ( at least in NY State it is!).

Acting is a business as everything else is. Certainly we wouldn't stop eating potato chips if one of the factory employees was arrested for being a pedophile. It is unfortunate, for sure, but we can't avoid contact or exposure to everything or everyone who has committed a crime. At this point we must also let the process of justice run its course and not be too hasty to cast stones.

I never watched this show and don't know the actor, but as sickening as the story may be, some elements of it should make people a bit cautious about prematurely convicting him - these are tabloid news outlets and this story is being leaked in the middle of a divorce. It isn't unheard of for tapes to be doctored. I would also think that the limitation period doesn't begin until the child victims reach the age of majority, so legal action should still be an option if they choose. Wish we could find a cure for this sickness.

Wow he played a priest on Seventh Heaven and I didn't realiZe that was a younger him the Adbication. You just never know even when someone seems like a clean cut good guy. Im far from perfect, but I try to be a stand up Goode guy and I think most people see me that way I hope I would never want to be that other kind of person. And remember the person on the show is a character, not him but what a disappointment in his behavior.

Wish we could find a cure for this sickness. The Greeks never saw this as a sickness, but rather normal. There were many peoples (tribes) that had an adult teach a child about s. e. x. It was a perfectly natural thing.
I wonder when this was labeled as a sickness and by what country.

I wouldn't know for sure, but a good guess might be Freud.

(Just thought I'd clarify since priests have enough problems!)

This whole subject has brought to mind a jury panel I once sat on.... the case had to do with a man accused of sexual molestation of a young boy.... The man, Chris Gray, had been a "house fellow" at a home for troubled youth and had 12 boys under his care.... Not related to his job, he met a boy at the apartment complex of his grandmother, where Chris frequently went to help her with her garden.... The boy had domestic problems to do with his mother and sister and they lived in a welfare motel room fairly close by.... Chris tried to help him and frequently brought him to his own family events, even bought him birthday and Christmas presents, etc....
One summer, Chris was taking two of his young nephews up to his family's cabin on a lake in Canada, and invited the boy (Val) along.... with the approval of Val's mother, of course.... They spent a week there, having fun swimming, boating, etc.... The following Christmas, Chris took a vacation out to CA and didn't invite Val (why should he??).... the relationship became strained upon Chris's return but they still spent some time together off an on.
At some point a few months later, Val was arrested for sexually abusing his younger sister .... when pressed by the police, he said he had been abused by Chris (as we know, there is frequently evidence of early abuse by those who then become abusers themselves.) FYI, Chris was by then eleven years old, and his sister was eight.... he was quite a "street-wise" kid, and I'm sure he knew how to play all angles.
For various reasons, the story didn't ring true with the jury panel.... mainly because of some of the "evidence" -- for instance, the prosecution had a picture of Val taking a pee into the Canada lake, from quite a distance.... to us, it was a photo many fathers may well have taken of their sons -- it was cute !! ... as far as we were concerned, that was not evidence of anything.... There were other things which didn't seem to fit the prosecution's scenario.
Eleven of us on the jury panel wanted to acquit Chris of all charges (which included his having some porn in his apartment, probably never shown to Val) -- but one juror would not come around to the thinking of the rest of the panel.... we spent almost two days deliberating, all trying to convince her -- eventually we had to settle for one charge of "child endangerment" because of those two darn porn videos!!
Of course, Chris lost his job and would never be allowed to do his "life work" again because of his conviction.... I checked with his lawyer a couple of months later to learn of his sentence, if any.... He had been put on parole for three years.
NOT FAIR.

I also know a man personally who was totally innocent. He was a high school teacher and coach. My husband helped him coach for two years because one of our daughters was on the team. 'Mr. Jones' was very supportive of the kids. He tried to mentor them, give them a listening ear, show some support, encouragement and praise. There was a cheerleader 'Sherry', that was snooty, stuck-up and thought she was the best thing since sliced bread. For what ever reason she never liked Mr. Jones. Maybe because he knew she was full of herself and would reprimand her whenever she treated her fellow students/peers like dirt.
My husband thought (and still does) very highly of him. My husband spent a lot of time with him as the assistant coach. One day after practice, all of the players and cheerleaders had gone home (including my husband and daughter) and just Sherry and Mr. Jones was left.
Mr. Jones always stayed until all of the kids had left or been picked up before he would go home. Well, Sherry decided to claim that Mr. Jones had made unwanted sexual advances towards her. Because it was a he said, she said thing - the school system decided to let him go. It took him over a year to find another teaching job and then it was over an hour and a half drive one way from his home. He had a wife and baby. It hurt them financially because of doing without a job and now because of gas money and time spent away from them by being on the road longer each day.
I often wonder how Sherry lives with herself (she's about 26 years old now), knowing what a HUGE lie she told and how it has affected Mr. Jones and his family because of it. I also wonder if she ever does 'grow up' and feels remorse, will she seek him out to apologize?
When I was in school, none of the coaches: basketball, baseball, cheerleader, track, etc. would go home until all of their athletes had gone home. This could have been avoided if the woman cheerleader coach had stayed until Sherry was picked up from practice. After this happened the only thing that changed was the male basketball coach of the girls team would sit in his truck in the middle of the gym parking lot, with the girl(s) waiting outside the gym doors for their ride. He is no longer employed there, and now it's rare if a coach of any sport stays. Practice is over and the coaches leave. When I go to pick up one of my kids from practice, if there is still a kid(s) left, we wait until they have been picked up. I don't want to take any chances with someone kidnapping them or who knows what.
I also personally believe that some kids nowadays think that if something doesn't go their way, they don't get what they want, etc. all they have to do is 'claim' an adult tried to do something or call child protective services to allege abuse or neglect on one or both of their parents. People constantly come to my kids school talking to them about these things and pass out business cards so you can call this number. It's a shame that the kids that are lying are using up valuable resources that need to be used on TRUE victims, plus once something is gossiped about in a community, read in a newspaper or shown on a TV station - and you are found innocent, your life will never be the same.

.... and it kills me that folks are so much more willing to believe the kids.... like, those "precious darlings" can do no wrong !! ... Nowadays, all kids have seen shows on tv where abuse goes on and they think they can use it as a weapon.... hopefully, "the law" is wising up, albeit slowly.

There is an article about Stephen Collins in the newest People magazine. The article is on pages 70 through 73.He was dropped from agency, fired from Ted 2,an already filmed role in Scandal, and they took 7th Heaven off the air indefinitely. On September 18 there was a mini cast reunion of 7th Heaven.Jessica Bell was not there,or the twins who played Sam and David.
