Hi,
I ran across a website a day or so ago that I think said something to the effect the Waltons Fan Club is no longer (or at least at this time) taking new members. Is that true? If so why? I wish I could attend the Fan Club Reunion but my schedule won't permit it right now.
Regards, Randy

Randy - You do not have to be a member of the Fan Club in order to attend the Waltons Fan Club Reunion in Lynchburg/Schuyler. It is open to everyone and whomever pays the dinner reunion fees first gets a spot - it is strictly first come, first serve as there are usually only about 200 to 210 seats available. Same way with the discounted hotel rooms at The Kirkley Hotel (that the reunion is held at). Only so many rooms are set aside with the discount and when they are all booked, that's it no more at a discount. If you still want to stay there, you will have to pay the full price for the room.

Carolyn G. can correct me if I am wrong, but at one time I think we used to pay an actual annual membership fee. This would have been back in the '90's, as that is when my husband and I first became aware of the International Walton's Fan Club and "joined." Those were the days when Carolyn and her husband, Harold, published the "Blue Ridge Chronicles" newsletter that was mailed out to us several times a year.

Jan, you are right. It is no longer an "official" fan club with paid membership.

Googling "Waltons Fan Club" brings up a few small organizations.... I wish one of them would "get serious" and develop into something like Carolyn used to run.... I guess our forum is the best thing going -- it's really a fan club, isn't it ?!

At one time there were at least 3 fan clubs. One was run by the Waltons Museum in Schuyler. It was called The Friends of The Waltons. Members could get free admission to the museum, and the museum sent out a newsletter every couple of months. I don't know if the club is still active or not.
Carolyn Grinnell's fan club is called The Waltons International Fan Club. She used to send out newsletters, and of course this is the club that sponsors the Waltons reunion each year.
The Waltons Friendship Society is a fan club based in the UK, started by Irene Porter, but I believe someone else is running it now. Irene used to send out a newsletter too, which was made up of stories and articles that fans sent in. This club has a website, which is linked at the bottom of this forum, and it seems they are becoming active again. They are the ones who hosted the Jon Walmsley event in the UK recently.
At one time I was a member of all 3 organizations. I still have all the newsletters I received from each of them. They are all interesting to read. I eventually let my membership lapse, but I still keep in touch with Carolyn and attend all the reunions that I possibly can.

I continue to be a member of the Friends of the Waltons from the museum. They send out a newsletter four times a year. It includes free admission to the museum and a discount at Ike Godsey's Store.

I am a member of the museum also. I get the news letters and admission to the museum. I think here are a few Facebook Walton fan clubs also but I am not sure what they are called.
