I'm sorry, but they are kind of comical. I'm not even sure why they attempted them without the proper funding or sets. They all look like they take place on Walton's Mountain (which I am sure they do, at least the sets). The dialogue is poor and the whole thing looks very fake. I don't think that they should have actually tried to portray war.
They should have kept with the domestic stories which is what they did best. That didn't work for me at all.

Ben seemed like he was a girlie girl trying to portray a rugged man in the Last 10 Days. They should have made his lips even more chapped.

The only justification for those scenes was to keep the actors in the show.

Didn't it all look like they were play acting behind the house? If I remember correctly that there were scenes when they were shooting at Germans and in one scene Ben was hiding under a staircase. They should have cut those scenes. They were very silly.

Ben was in the Pacific theater and I do not remember staircases or that Ben really did any fighting. Jason was shown fighting and maybe he was under a stair case.

I'm sure that you are right, Scarlett. I think I just partially tuned out when they were on because they were so poorly done! One of the boys was under the stairs and that "shootout", well...

Now that I think of it you are right Scarlett. I remember Jason "ordering" his "men". Not one of their best moments.

I think the Waltons war episodes sets were built by & financed by ACME (that company Wile E. Coyote used to buy those defective products)

I don't see how they could ignore the war seeing as the show was set in that time frame. The war affected everyone from those in major cities to little spots in the road like Walton's Mountain. Earl Hamner and his brothers served in that war so in that respect the Walton men had to as well since they are portraying the Hamners. To me it would have been more fake if they had ignored the war.

Maybe more talking about what they are doing instead of trying to act out what they were doing.
