With the reunion coming up at the end of October, I thought it might be interesting to see if there are any questions anyone would like to be asked at the reunion.
Michael Learned (Olivia Walton) and Cissy Wellman (Mrs. Yancy Tucker) are the two special guests this year. The questions don't just have to pertain to The Waltons as both actresses have acted in numerous things. So post your question(s) and maybe one of the forum members that will be attending will be able to find out the answer for you.

For Cissy Wellman: I am sorry that your character was not made a more permanent part of the show. Do you know what happened that Sissy was written out? Was any explanation given or was it the typical question of dollars and cents? How was working with Robert Donner and all the animals?
For Michael Learned: what is your favorite stage role to date? what was it like to work with Robert Reed in "Nurse"? Which one of your 4 Emmies was particularly gratifying?

I asked Michael Learned the following questions and found out her answers:
1. Out of your four emmys that you so richly deserved, which one was the most gratifying?
2. What Broadway or theatre play has been your favorite?
3. How many grandchildren do you have?
4. Do you know why Olivia's family was rarely mentioned, visited or featured on The Waltons?
5. What do you remember about getting the part of Olivia?

(scrolls down but nothing) What were her answers? I got her answers. I asked and she told me. Hee - Hee! Maybe I need to go drink a Dr Pepper. Well then it's time to guess at the answers 1. The first one because I did not expect it. 2.Rocky horror picture show because I so wanted to be Frank N Furter 3. 174 4.Because the writers were too busy creating an accurate timeline and consistent dates of birth. 5. I don't remember, I drank too much.

Frank - You got one correct and on another one you got half of the answer!
Michael is the oldest of six girls. I also asked how her five sisters were but just as I finished asking the question and she opened her mouth to answer me, someone came up and got her attention. They started talking (this was at Isis Ringrose's house in Schuyler), then Isis came up to talk to her and they sat down on the couch together and started an interesting conversation. Patriciaanne and I could have stayed there listening to them until it was time to head back to Lynchburg but we needed to go and meet our friends at Earl's childhood home, so we had to walk away.

Out of your four Emmys, that you so richly deserved, which one was the most gratifying? When I asked Mrs. Learned this question (word for word) she immediately said, "Thank you," because of me saying that she so richly deserved them (which she did). Then she said, "Nurse, but the first one too because I didn't expect to win. I had gone to the awards show with my son and when they called out Richard's (Thomas) name I was so happy for him. The woman mispronounced my name so I didn't know that I had won. When I realized that I had, I was surprised."
How many grandchildren do you have? Five. I then asked her: How many boys? How many girls? Her reply was kind of funny because she kept getting confused about how many of each. She started saying their first names out loud and then she said, "Three girls and two boys."

Duh! I could pop myself upside the head!! It just dawned on me that I had a question for Michael that I really wanted answered. It was:
In the episode about grandma and grandpa's anniversary, when they are celebrating it in the front yard, grandpa is dancing on what looks like a piece of plywood on the ground. He gets so carried away that he falls down and grandma helps him up, then they start dancing together. Was Will Geer's falling down in the script or did he really fall and they just continued filming and left it in?
Maybe I can remember it and ask another one of the Walton cast at the next reunion if I get to go.

Maybe I can remember it and ask another one of the Walton cast at the next reunion if I get to go. My guess is that it was NOT scripted. At Will Geer's age, I doubt they would have intentionally told him to fall down.
