Hi katetroy,
That is one of the great mysteries of The Waltons, along with what happened to Virginia?, where was Charlie?, why did Mary Ellen have 2 new kids when she wasn't supposed to be able to have a baby?, etc., etc. I can pretty much guarantee you that no one here will have an answer for you, and most of us have just decided to enjoy the show and not worry about what the writers must have considered "incidental" details. I guess they assumed none of us had a memory! Anyway, I guess you can make up your own story about what happened. Sorry I don't have a better explanation for you.

waltonswebpage.proboards.com/thread/2212/baby-virginia#.VAX98KMYrcwIt was on a dark and stormy night and Ben and Cindy were driving back from a visit with Maude Gormley for her 104th birthday. After passing the Godsey store, Ben and Cindy got into a vicious argument over the old dog Reckless being a boy or a girl. Suddenly, Cindy started to scream and pull her hair out by the fistfuls. Concerned, Ben demanded to know what was wrong with his woman. Blue, its Blue standing in the road she shrieked. Before Ben could react a large feathery thing flew past his face. Rover the peacock could not have had better timing when he chose to fly across the road. Ben tried to apply the brakes before he hit the white mule in the road, but it was too late. Meanwhile Cindy had started to calm herself and got out of the car to walk back and see if the Godsey's had any hot chocolate. It was not too long before Drew showed up riding his bicycle with Elizabeth in the basket. The picture of the young couple riding down the road so carefree caused Cindy to snap to reality. Why were Drew and Elizabeth so happy and carefree? Did she not leave Virginia with them earlier in the day? Tired, blonde and confused, the color drained from her face WHERE IS VIRGINIA she thought out loud?

I just watched the last movie, the one where John-Boy's wife, Janet, had twins. Where was Cindy during this movie and also Jonesy and John Curtis. No one mentioned them at all. I watched that also. My husband asked the same question. Thanks to Scarlett, I now have all the answers!

The following was posted on Facebook by Eric Scott(Ben Walton)
"With the Walton reunions on this last weekend, i have gotten a lot of questions about what happened to my screen kids. In the script, they wrote that Virginia died (with out giving a reason) and didn't even mention Charlie. When I brought this up to the writers and producers, they said that no one would remember them. I did not agree with their assessment and as time has shown, no one else agreed with them. I say let's make another reunion and fix these discrepancies!!"

The doctor told Mary Ellen that getting pregnant would endanger her life, and the life of her potential children, but that they COULD still survive. Therefore, maybe she just accidentally got pregnant twice and got very lucky too!

Mary Ellen and Jonesy could have adopted the two children.I wonder if anyone thought of it.
