Here is a great article: "I wouldn’t call it a binge, but lately I have been getting reacquainted in a big way with the classic ‘70s drama “The Waltons” -- a series I recall enjoying in my youth, but one that I hadn’t given a lot of thought to since." Continue reading...

That is a nice article. I'd actually like to do a search and see who all won awards on/for the show. I knew Richard and Michael, but not of others.
I faithfully watched the Waltons at least through the spring of '79. By then I was living in an apartment with no laundry facilities, so every Thursday night I would go to my parents house, have dinner, do my laundry and mom and I would watch the Waltons while I folded my clothes. The funny thing is, when I started watching again last year, I only remembered the characters but none of the plots, so it was like watching a brand new show, only I knew who was in it!
I've taped almost all of them, now. I would have the whole series taped already, but Direct TV had an issue at my house, and when the techs were finished with us, all my taped stuff disappeared!
When I find an interest in something these days, I always look for a forum that discusses it. That led me here, and the rest is history.

Someone stole your tapes? That's theft. I would have reported it!

Someone stole your tapes? That's theft. I would have reported it! I didn't have physical tapes, I had recorded them all through Direct Tv's whatever they call it. When the tech was finished "working" on my issue, all my taped shows were gone from the list. Never to return again. Sorry for the confusion, I've jumped the jargon train on all the techie stuff.

According to wiki: The Waltons won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series in 1973. Also in 1973 Richard Thomas won the Emmy for Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Michael Learned won the Emmy for Lead Actress in a Drama Series three times (1973, 1974, and 1976). Ellen Corby was also a three-time winner in the Supporting Actress category, winning in 1973, 1975, and 1976. Will Geer was awarded the Supporting Actor Emmy in 1975. Veteran actress Beulah Bondi won an Emmy in 1977 for Lead Actress in a Single Performance for her guest appearance as Martha Corrine Walton in the episode "The Pony Cart" (Episode #111). She first appeared in The Waltons episode "The Conflict" (Episode #51) as the widow of Zeb Walton's brother. The series also earned a Peabody Award for its first season.

Thank you, Dowsee! Seems like Ralph was left out of the nominations for the most part. Probably hard when you had two leading men.

Ralph Waite was nominated in 1978, but lost to Ed Asner for Lou Grant. Michael Learned and Ellen Corby were nominated and lost, as well. Interestingly, Will Geer was also nominated that year, but not for The Waltons. He was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor for a Single Appearance in a Drama or Comedy Series . . . for The Love Boat!
