Meat loaf...mashed spuds...corn on the cob and apple crisp. YUMMY! Oh and don't forget the fresh garden carrots for crunching on!

Yeah, as a vegetarian, I think I would struggle to get on with the food at the Waltons' house!

Yeah, as a vegetarian, I think I would struggle to get on with the food at the Waltons' house! I knew I found you handsome for a reason.

I'm not a total vegetarian yet, but I feel myself getting closer and closer.... there's not much meat I can get down anymore.... but if a friend gives me, say, a turkey sandwich, I usually eat it.... however, word is getting around and it probably won't be much of a "problem" any more.

I don't eat meat every day, but I couldn't be a vegetarian either. I need the meat I do eat. I wish I liked game meat (like deer) because I think it would be much healthier. I get nervous about eating meat if I don't know where it came from. Although this summer, I've been trying to eat just the local beef and that's much better.

Fried Chicken, mashed potatoes and pan gravy, vegetables and/or salad, and a apple pie with melted cheese for dessert. I could eat the first course, but apple pie and melted cheese? I like apple pie and I love cheese in any form, but not combined. Never heard of this combination before. Maybe its a dish particular to the US.

A good Thanksgiving meal,! I'll be a copycat cinlou, except a great Christmas meal. Chicken and dressing, mashed potatoes, fried sweet potatoes (yes two potato dishes ), homemade biscuits with fresh butter, fried okra and Olivia's applesauce cake. To partake of this meal at Christmastime with the Waltons around their table with the glow of their Christmas tree lights from the living room...I couldn't ask for anything more except for Miss Mamie, Miss Emily, Verdie, Harley, Ike, Corabeth, Aimee, Ep, Yancy, Rosemary, Matthew, etc. being there also to enjoy the meal and celebrate the holidays together.

I have heard of apple pie with melted cheese but I have never tried it. I like my apple pie with lots of sugar, cinnamon and butter on top of it.

Apple pie with a slice of cheddar on it. He said that's the way it was always served in his house when he was a kid. I had never heard of it that way before. He is from Minnesota and both his parents were from Denmark. So I dont know if its a MN thing or a Danish thing.

I am so there. (Except for the potatoes, I'm allergic to them. So you can have mine.)
