I think we need to remember that they are regular people just like us, and acting (or baseball or football) is their job, just like our job might be teaching or nursing or working in a factory or a store. If you think about it, most people are nice people, but a few are jerks. I would say the same thing goes for celebrities. Most of them are nice people, too, but a few of them are probably jerks. I have met most of the cast members of The Waltons, and they all appeared to be genuinely nice people to me. Of course, they are actors, so maybe they were just acting like nice people. I guess we'll never know for sure unless they or someone close to them tell us. I choose to believe they were/are very nice and genuine. I don't think you can fake that for too long--no matter how good an actor you are.

Anybody got any stories on any celebs? I have a funny story from an internet friend, she even showed me the autograph picture. The story goes she met this singer and said to him something like "I know you, you are famous". So the celeb had some photos of himself and signed it something like "Best Wishes, Lou Gramm" (Lou Gramm was the lead singer of the band "Foreigner") The thing is, when she got home and showed the photo, it wasn't a photo of Lou Gramm, but Micky Dolenz (of the Monkees). She had actually met Micky and not Lou Gramm, but she couldn't remember the singer's name so he played a funny joke on her by signing it "Lou Gramm". Micky is well known for his sense of humor.

Whenever I've related any of my stories about actors I've worked with, only once did someone reply..... even the two stories I've told about seeing someone in a restaurant, with funny anecdotes involved -- nary a comment.... Occasionally I've gotten the courage up again, when an anecdote is highly appropriate to the theme of a thread, only to be hurt all over again.... So, do you really want to hear another story ??

Hey Jeri, am I really the only one who responded to your Yul story? Well, of course, I would be thrilled to hear more? How about the rest of you? Ned

As for the Waltons cast, I would have to say that some of them seem nicer than others, but they are people of flesh and blood as we all are, and we don't know the personal circumstances going on in their lives at the time that they make public appearances, so understanding and patience is expected on our part as well.

My best friend was a HUGE Billy Ray Cyrus fan when he first hit the scene. Billy Ray started having a fan day at his residence every year and she would always attend them. Lots of people showed up every year but Billy Ray would always come up to her and call her by name. He would even remember her husband's name and ask how he was doing. She was always impressed that he could remember. She and her husband were also BIG Dale Earnhardt (Sr.) fans. He would have a fan meet and greet that you had to pay a good chunk of money to attend. They saved their money and attended one year. They were both highly disappointed. After driving for hours and waiting in line for quite some time...they got an autograph and were sent on their way. They said he was in a bad mood and barely had two words to say to anybody.

You and I have had lots of good conversations about various stage shows and the theatre in general -- I've enjoyed that very much..... and then you disappear for months on end and I am miserable

Hey Jeri, thanks for saying that you miss me when I am not on the forum. This has been a very difficult year for me, both professionally and personally. My wife and I are trying to be good parents to our four children, but I must say that having twin two-year-olds leaves us feeling exhausted most of the time. Our two older children are a BIG help, but we don't want to take advantage of their goodness. They are still children themselves. All of this tiredness has proven a challenge to our marriage as well, and we went through some rather dark months. God has brought us through it, and things are looking up. I also am in charge of three ministries here in Ecuador, one of which is pastoring a church, the other running a local seminary and the third managing a Christian radio station, so with the family struggles, I have been paddling as hard as I can constantly to stay above water. Thankfully, I am a good swimmer. HA! And God is ALWAYS faithful.
For this reason my presence on the board has been limited, and I apologize for that. "The Waltons" is one of the joys of my life, but I have had to focus on other priorities this year. That is not to say that I do not appreciate your stories, your "brushes" with famous people, and your uncle's tenure in Olean, a place I love dearly, having gone to college in Western NY.
I would especially enjoy hearing more about any Broadway personalities. So sorry to have lost our dear Elaine Strich within the past weeks. She was a genius and able to get a well-deserved laugh with one of her glances. Loved her in "A Little Night Music" a couple years ago. I thought Bernadette Peters overacted, almost to a caricature, but I would NEVER accuse Elaine of that. To me she was on a different level.
If you have any insights about the final "King and I" revival with Yul, which you were a part of, would love to hear that. It must have been difficult to see him in his final appearances.
Keep on keeping on, dear Jeri, and please do not interpret my absence as rejection. Far from it, and I am glad to be back.

Nah.... wasn't taking your absence personally (!).... just teasing a bit and wanted you to know that I miss you when you're gone
FYI, the section of Queens County which has a population of 100,000 Ecuadorians is holding an Ecuador Independence Day Parade today.... must be an exciting day down there -- are you near to Quito? Or, where?
Actually, I have a lot of questions about Ecuador (and many foreign lands).... so, I think I'll start a thread under "Other Topics" -- please visit it when you can and tell us about your life in Ecuador.
Best always, Jeri

Celebrities are human beings and are entitled to their bad days and moods. I think I liked Pat Priest ( the actress who played Marilyn Munster on " the munsters") the best out of all I have met. I met her at a charity event that this couple in Texas throws every Halloween. This couple loves the munsters so much they built their house to look like the tv show house. She was so sweet!
This just goes to show how long ago this was when I met Naomi Judd, I kinda got the impression she was flaky. She was at a walmart book signing for her judds book. Ashley was supposedly there too, on their bus! I don't know why I felt that way about her, I was little then. People say bad things about William Shatner but I promise you if I could afford to meet him and get his autograph, I would.
Honestly, I would really like to go to another comic con. I didn't have money for autographs or photos, but seeing all the people I did was quite a thrill.

Anybody got any stories on any celebs? My daughter along with several hundred other teenagers queued up for several hours to meet Nick Jonas when he was performing in Les Mis in London a couple of years ago. He met every single teenager in the queue and his assistant took a photo of him with each girl with the girls cameras. He asked each girl their name and posed with his arm around their shoulder. I couldn't believe that he done that after every performance but this was confirmed by the owner of the cafe where I sat for several hours as the case. My son has also just met Ed Miliband who is the leader of the opposition government. He was perfectly charming and was just out on a walk in London.
