I have met several cast members and not one of them were jerks, they each took the time to talk to you and made you feel that you were the only one in the room, they were wonderful and can't wait to meet them again one day.

Most people are able to "be nice in person" -- at least for a little while.... unfortunately, that sometimes bears little resemblance to what they are really like.... that's life .... I'm not talking at all about the Waltons cast here.... but, it does seem to me that "overly sugary-sweet" types usually lose that façade pretty quickly.... can't hide one's true self forever, and ya never know when someone's watching !

Actors know that they need to be nice especially at reunions. After all that is their paycheck. So I can't imagine any of the actors being a jerk at any fan event. Now with that being said, when no one is watching that would be a different story. Mary mentioned one guest actor being a jerk, but did not reveal who it was. This cast is very good at keeping up appearances~they don't air their dirty laundry in public. No one has come out with a tell all book that says anything different, except Ronnie not liking Ellen.
I don't like it when a book comes out and reveals all of the dirty little secrets. Makes me not like the show anymore and it appears to me that the person is unprofessional. TV is a fantasy and I like to keep it that way.

what about Richard Hatch? (Boone) Richard Hatch was Wade, Boone's grandson I did mention on another thread recently that Mary-Beth wrote in her book that one man who appeared in one of the early episodes totally ignored her and Jon Walmsley a few years later when they went to visit him on the set of his own hit TV series. Acted like he'd never met them before. She did not name him but I suggested it was Paul Michael Glaser, on second thoughts it could have been Richard Hatch as he went on to Streets of San Francisco and became famous in that. I think the Walton's cast members are unique in that they all have that likeability factor and appreciate their fans.

What some people may perceive as a celebrity being rude or a "jerk", may not always be the case. Many MANY celebs are just very private and it's usually for their own protection. In their circle of trusted friends, they would be just like you or I.

I am totally convinced that it was Paul Michael Glaser. I don't see it being Richard Hatch because he attended both the Waltons reunions (Carolyn's and Kami's) in California back in 2012.

why can't an actor or actress be genuinely nice in real life? Why all the cynicism? I found them all to be very grateful and friendly! font]

This is going off on a little rabbit trail, but most of the celebrities I have met were Baseball and Hockey players. When I lived in Montreal I used to go down and see lots of Baseball games (most of these were free tickets). I'd go as close to the visitors dugout as possible and saw all my favorite players going in and out during batting practice (This was between 1970 and 1976). I asked any player I recognised for an autograph. All the players were so kind, friendly and willing to give autographs. One player (Manny Sanguillen of the Pittsburgh Pirates) even asked me "Hey kid, who else do you want an autograph from?" and he went to get Willie Stargell and Al Oliver for me, who were throwing the ball in the outfield at the time. They came all the way to sign for me. I am sad I never got Clemente's though, he was killed just a few months earlier The only player I met who refused me (au autograph) was Bob Gibson from St Louis. Later in life I saw an interview with him and other teammates that he did not speak to anyone (including teammates) on the day that he has to pitch. He was so focused on the game. That explains it, I guess. For diehard Baseball fans, you probably recognize some of the players I mentioned.

I was recently at an event with a major NFL player. He was more than willing to take pictures with anyone in the room... but he would only shake hands with both men and women. There was no touching, and a few people were offended by not getting a hug or arm around the shoulder.
When he spoke to the attendees at the event, he explained his actions. His young daughters saw pictures of "Daddy" hugging all these women (and men), and they wanted to know why he hugged other women besides "Mommy" (btw, he and his wife are happily married with a few kids). He and his wife talked, and they determined the best resolution was no more "hugging" of anyone except family members and close friends - especially when the pictures might be for publicity.
My point - being "a jerk" may not be what it is. We should not expect celebrities to be "perfect" in any way. We all put our clothes on the same way, and we all have personal things that we consider private.

I think we need to remember that they are regular people just like us, and acting (or baseball or football) is their job, just like our job might be teaching or nursing or working in a factory or a store. If you think about it, most people are nice people, but a few are jerks. I would say the same thing goes for celebrities. Most of them are nice people, too, but a few of them are probably jerks.
I have met most of the cast members of The Waltons, and they all appeared to be genuinely nice people to me. Of course, they are actors, so maybe they were just acting like nice people. I guess we'll never know for sure unless they or someone close to them tell us.

Frankly, I find it refreshing that the Walton gang still keep things close to the vest. I also was a Brady Bunch fan in the day however, I've heard way too much about them.
