I just came across some information that says that it's mentioned that little Ginny drowned. It claims that it's mentioned in one of the last of the three specials. Has anyone else heard thus, or picked it up in the specials?

Wow, really? there was a Waltons specials marathon last weekend on TV and I watched them and don't recall any mention of how she died...I assumed it was one of those childhood things kids got back then. Have you a link to your info?

This is what came up on Wikipedia when I put in "What happened to Ginny on The Waltons". It was somewhere down in the text. This was news to me, and who knows if it is true. I am not at all familiar with any of the movies. Seems as though they could have taught that child to swim . . . .
"One of the last 3 movies mentions that Ginny has drowned and that Ben and Cindy are considering adopting another child; Charlie is never mentioned"

I have seen the TV movies many times, and I am almost certain that no mention is given for the reason of her death.

I agree. It was mentioned that Ginny died, but they didn't say how she died. Also, Charlie seems to have been forgotten, and Ben and Cindy did consider adopting another child.

I agree. It was mentioned that Ginny died, but they didn't say how she died. Also, Charlie seems to have been forgotten, and Ben and Cindy did consider adopting another child. Likewise, Eric Scott has said that the writers were questioned by cast members about the omitting of Charlie from the episode where Ginny is deceased and he said that the reason given was that viewers would not remember nor notice the discrepancy - they clearly underestimated us Waltons fans then eh? Maybe if that reunion special gets made - and lets pray it does - everything will be put right and possibly Charlie's past absence could be explained by possibly him having been away and being cared for by Cindy's mother for a time while she and Ben were going through their initial grieving period. I got the impression that in that episode Ginny had not been gone for very long.
