I was just watching The Indiscretion today and a thought occured to me. How odd that, of all the Waltons who have their 'sex lives' explored in an episod, it would only be the two youngest Elizabeth and Jim-Bob (in The Persuit)! It's kind of funny, and a tad weird, if you think of it like that!

Interesting and funny -- Season 9 -- the years had gone by and certain topics became easier to put out there.....

It has been discussed before that season nine was to showcase the kids acting abilities and to hopefully open up new avenues to them.
I think that in season nine the lines got blurred between Waltons mountain and the rest of Hollywood. They wanted to cast off the wholesomeness of the cast members and prove that they could cut it in modern Hollywood.

Guess they were trying to get more of an audience.

I think a major contributing factor was the fact that Jim-Bob and Elizabeth "came of age" during the war years. There was very much a lot more pressure to "get it while you can" and a general loss of innocence during the war years than the Depression years.

I do recall Erin telling Elizabeth that she and Ashley almost went too far because they were planning on marriage but they didn't do so and she was relieved since they broke up at some point afterward.

I didn't think Elizabeth had a sex life to explore...? Or did I miss something in that episode? Perhaps I should have said that they were the only two to have their sexuality explored on the show.
