I was just thinking (on another Post) where I would like to sit at the dinner table... Definitely near John boy and Grandpa- that is where all the fun and mischief would be !
I have also noticed Olivia sat on one side then the other and couple times I saw Ben and Jason on different sides... I wonder why.
Where would you like to sit at the table?

I always liked where Elizabeth sat, next to Grandma. I don't know why, just seems like a good spot.

I felt the same way.... in fact, I like the way the table was set up most of the time..... with John Sr. and Grandpa anchoring the ends, Livvy next to John and Esther next to Zeb.... liked that John Boy was next to Zeb and across from Elizabeth and Elizabeth's buddy Jim-Bob next to her.... Erin and MaryEllen close to Livvy.... Placement of the rest didn't matter to me very much.

I think I would have enjoyed sitting down by Grandma and Grandpa.

It's weird that they moved around at all. We lived in many places as I was growing up, but the seat arrangement never varied for all those years. It's just nice to have your own seat at the table.

Same with my family.... The Waltons didn't move around very much that I remember.... perhaps only when the script or camera angle required it in some way ??

I like how you describe this. My table, growing up, was set up much like the Waltons' table. My daddy and grandpa each had an end and I always sat by my grandpa. My grandma sat on my other side.

We didn't move around either growing up. We had our own chairs and that's where we sat.

My parents, brother and I always sat in the same place at the table. Now Mr. Forever, the forevettes and myself also always sit in the same place at the table. I would want to sit by Grandpa first, then John Sr.

I think I would just sit where Olivia or Esther told me to. I would not want to argue with either of them. LOL! Unless one of the others said "Come sit here" first.

I love coziness. The kitchen area does not look very cozy to me. I like the living room, especially the area near the radio. I love how the staircase that leads upstairs begins in two places - the living room and the kitchen. I also like how the entrance for the grandparents' room sits off the staircase and I love the small staircase in their room. That small staircase with the railing makes their room very cozy, indeed.
I just don't know if there is a cozy enough place at the dinner table for me. I would definitely have to sit facing the living room, and I guess I would want to be near the staircase.
Maybe I could take my food and eat it in the grandparents' room. I really love that small staircase in there!

I'm the same way.... don't like the "open landscaping" design of today's homes.... much prefer individual rooms -- they have a cozier feel to me.... When my parents bought their last house (their dream home!), the only thing they didn't like about it was the half wall between the family room and breakfast area/kitchen..... soon as they could, they had bookshelves built into the space above the half wall and bricked in the wall behind, creating separate, defined rooms..... Mom couldn't stand the idea of people sitting in the family room, staring at her as she cooked..... Another thing I don't like is stainless steel appliances and sink -- just too cold, always have an oily look and show every fingerprint unless you constantly wipe them down.... give me good old-fashioned white porcelain sink and "normal" appliances, and I'm happy.... Also don't like open, airy restaurants -- Yup, I like a darker ambiance -- COZY

I'd want to sit close to Zeb and John Boy too, as that was where most of the verbal FUN came from.
