I believe the only Mtn. Dew on The Waltons was "The Baldwins Recipe"
Jerry_________ D28vr Since you gave it away, I thought that it was a can of Comet which I do think that they had back then.

I remember Old Dutch, Bon Ami, Babbo, and Ajax from the early days..... don't think Comet existed until maybe the late 50's or early 60's ??
This has me thinking about early detergents for washing clothes -- the earliest I remember are Lux, Duz, and Rinso Blue

I went to the Comet website to get info and see if it was available during the Depression. I will let you all know if they answer me back.

Hi Jeri, You are correct. Comet was first developed & used in England & then a company in the States bought them out in the 50s & sold it under the name of "Comet". The Oldest brand of this scoureing powder I can recall is "Bon-Ami, Babbo & Dutch Cleanser"

Thanks, Jerry! You and I are probably the only members old enough to remember the launch of Comet.... I think I remembered it because I believe it was the first to have some Clorox in it.... earlier cleansers did have some version of Chlorine, I think.....

Thanks, Jerry! You and I are probably the only forum members old enough to remember the launch of Comet !! -- which I believe I remember because it was possibly the first to have Clorox in it.... earlier ones had some version of chlorine, I think.....
And, now, of course, I can't get the Ajax jingle out of my head -- "Use Ajax, the foaming cleanser.... floats the dirt right down the drain" " floats the dirt right down the drain" " and into the environment. Ah the smell of better living through chemistry.
