I watched a good movie today with Gregory Peck and Ellen Corby. It's called "The Gunfighter" (1950). That would've made Ellen 39. She had black hair but still played the 'straight laced, God fearin' townswoman' ready to lead the other women against what she considers evil. From what I've seen of her in many westerns, she played this role quite a bit.

I got a kick out of seeing both Baldwin sisters in Andy Griffith.

I just watched an episode of Gunsmoke (S8/Ep22), 1963, called Shona. Ep Bridges (John Crawford) was 43 yrs old when he was in this episode. He looked so young. He played a bad guy; an Indian lyncher. I was surprised when I recognized him. He played his role as a bad guy quite good. He ends up being shot by Matt Dillon after he kills his own brother for wanting to run off with an Indian woman.

I just saw Zuleika Dunbar (Pearl Shear) in "With Six You Get Eggroll" (romantic comedy w/ Doris Day and Brian Keith). Don't think she's credited in this movie. She's right at the beginning of the movie when Doris Day has a small party and her sister brings Brian Keith for her to meet. I would've never seen her except that she started laughing. The same laugh that we know from The Waltons. She was a party guest and all she did was laugh. This movie has a crazy cast from George Carlin to Eddie Haskell (Ken Osmond) to Jamie Farr and William Christopher (both from M.A.S.H.) This is the first time I've seen her in anything other than The Waltons.

I got a kick out of seeing both Baldwin sisters in Andy Griffith. Which one is "Mamie" in? I know "Emily" plays the wife of the man who loses his wallet that Opie finds.

It was the episode where Helen Crump had a bunch of teens doing a dance recital at the school and the superintendent didn't like it because he thought it was too racy. Mamie was there with him.... didn't say much though.

I just started watching a movie called "Kid Blue" starring Dennis Hopper, Warren Oates and Peter Boyle. About 15 minutes into it, Dennis Hopper, who is staying at a boarding house, is having dinner with the other boarding house guests and Ralph Waite is sitting there eating. He lets Dennis Hopper know that the town is a religious one and to watch what he says. They are passing around the food and they pan over to Miss Emily! Another person sitting at the table is the girl that was the wing walker. I went and read about this movie and it said it was filmed in 1971. Ralph Waite has those big furry sideburns that connects to his mustache. Boy, he really has some pretty blue eyes. I never heard of this movie before now.

Sounds like I would like to see this movie. Lee Purcell is the woman who played Bobby Strom (the wingwalker). I met her at Kami's Waltons Reunion on 9/29/12 in Los Angeles California. I got her picture and autograph. She is still just as pretty as she was 40 years ago. Lee and Judy Norton (Mary Ellen) are very good friends in real life. They were even roommates at one time.
What TV/cable channel are you watching all of these wonderful shows and movies on?

"Kid Blue" and the majority of westerns I watch (both movie and old TV reruns) are shown on ENCWS: Encore Westerns. I also watch RETRO, TCM (Turner Classic Movies), and MGM. All show great old movies. I'm a big fan of any sort of westerns, war movies and old black and white movies. I watch when I'm on the computer or exercising. I cannot sit and watch TV without doing something else, I'm too antsy. I wish I could relax more. My husband bought me a recliner with a massager built in about 6 yrs ago and I've sat in it maybe twice. I spend all my time in the kitchen breakfast nook where we have a bay window.
I'm watching a movie now called "Track of the Cat" (1954)with Robert Mitchum, Teresa Wright and Tab Hunter. Beulah Bondi plays Ma. She's a straight laced, God fearin', outspoken and very strong woman; just like on The Waltons. She is such an awesome actress. Her facial expressions speak volumes.

In The Beverly Hillbillies episode - "The Widow Poke Arrives," (1964) Season 3 Ep. 9 - Ellen Corby (Grandma) plays the Widow Poke. Here's the episode. It is 20:35 long - Ellen is seen beginning at 9:15. It's funny seeing how her character acts from 18:23 to the end at 20:25. If you don't want to watch the whole episode, all you have to do is drag the white circle to about 18:20 and play the last two minutes of the episode.

It would have been hilarious, if for just one episode on the Waltons, she had let loose like she did at the end of this Beverly Hillbillies episode. The kids would have thought she had went off her rocker. I can just see them now, staring at her like deer caught in headlights. LOL!
I could see grandpa Walton acting like that and the kids thinking nothing of it...but grandma!!

Will Geer is on the Columbo episode on ME-TV tonight. He plays an old physician-researcher. A fellow surgeon (played by Leonard Nimoy) tries to murder him by using the wrong kind of stiches on his heart during surgery. But you can't put one past Peter Falk!
