Hi Kathy Lee, I posted a link to your site on my links page at www.allaboutthewaltons.comGood luck. I'm still only halfway through season 3 on my episode synopsis. So much work! If I find a appropriate Keeper image I'll let you know.

Your website is amazing! You can see how much work and attention you have put into it. Your picture are very good. I bookmarked the site and want to go back and look around at everything. Do you have a picture of the original grandparents house? I used to have one and remember it was a very small cottage type house. I am sure glad I joined this forum as I would not have known all the great Walton fans out there. I wonder why we love that show so much?

If you would like, I will post a link to your website on mine. It is interesting that people can have a similar interest and take it in so many different directions.

Hi Everyone, There is a new Walton website that you might like. It's all about the food the Waltons ate during they show! There are recipes for food listed by movie or episode. For example, The Homecoming has recipes for roast turkey ("Won't John be surprised when he comes home and finds a turkey roasting in the oven!"), stuffing ("Mama. Do you think I'm pretty. No. I think you're beautiful."), Olivia's applesauce cake ("We'll slice one warm from the oven!"), and eggnog ("Take it out yonder and pour it on the ground!"). The website was started in February 2014 and I am up to The Typewriter in Season One. The plan is to watch each episode and movie and post recipes. I think I will be busy for a long time! There are also pictures of the Hamner house, Schuyler, Rockfish, and the Shenandoah Mountains as we live not too far away and often vacation in the mountains and surrounding area. If you get a chance, check out "Supper at the Waltons" at www.supperatthewaltons.comHope you like it. Thanks! As the starter of the keeper idea, I officially anoint you as the Keeper of the Walton Recipes. Thanks for the idea for the keeper. I love it!

As the starter of the keeper idea, I officially anoint you as the Keeper of the Walton Recipes. I didn't realize that had been your idea (or that it wasn't always part of this site). Great idea!I only borrowed the idea from my friend, Anne of Green Gables, of Avonlea . She lives over on Prince Edward Island don't you know.

I have a really good recipe for using leftover ham and will have to post it also.
The other day, as I was looking through my recipe box, I kept coming across hand written recipes and notes from long time friends and family members. Some have passed and it is rather emotional to see their handwriting. As I was reading it was almost like hearing their voices again.

I remember that afternoon, sitting in her favorite chair, in her apartment--going through all that stuff. It was like I had a good, long visit with her.

I have never tried a crockpot. I do have a roaster oven which is like a table top oven. It is not a toaster oven but a big roaster oven. It is great for cooking a turkey and would cook a ham well also. I use it when I want to free up oven space. The brand I have is a Nesco from Walmart.

Not sure about a crockpot ham. If you need the oven space, see if you can get a Nesco oven roaster. Amazon has them also.

It cooks my Thanksgiving turkey perfectly, my beef tenderloin for Christmas Eve and my fresh ham for Easter. I love it! I mostly use my regular oven for baking. But any turkeys or roasts go in the Nesco.

They cooked it for about 10 hours and it was amazing--it reminded me of pulled pork. It was unbelievably tender in a fall-off-the-bone kind of way.

I wish my kitchen had a large and a second small oven. One just big enough for one pie, casserole, or baking sheet. When I was a child, most families had summer kitchens. That was a full kitchen in the basement for cooking on hot summer days. They were nice and cool and usually had a day bed for the housewife to rest on.
