Drew Barrymore's name came across my computer screen this morning... and as I often do, I read the person's Wikipedia page (since it's usually in the top search results). I saw this earlier, and thought it was very interesting: This episode is "The Obsession," where Mary Ellen becomes dependent on drugs, and Cissy leaves Yancy Tucker. I don't recall ever seeing Drew Barrymore on "The Waltons," and it does not appear on her IMDB page. Wikipedia can easily be edited, but I can't imagine someone connecting her to The Waltons... it's not like that is a scandal or anything. Anyone have some knowledge on this? |

Wow thanks jrjr for the info and I checked out Her Wikepedia.too and Ill have to pull this episode the Obseesion out of my file and watch it. I remember Melissa from the episode with John Boy the Revelation, Richard Thomas last appearance on the Waltons TV series besides the movies. Anyway Ill have to check out Drew Barrymore as Melissa in the Obession. She was so little we probably DIDNT notice or think about it but years later after stardom. I saw her on the Tonight Shw with Adam Sandler and Jimmy Fallon promoting their new movie Ths summer. |

I honestly can't tell if that is Drew Barrymore as Melissa. I attribute it to "old age eyes". However, I remember the ad she was in. It was the ad for Coppertone. She was the wee little girl who got her swimsuit bottom pulled by a puppy dog. too cute!! |

No, I don't think it's Drew Barrymore, either, and I also think we would have known about it by now if Drew Barrymore had appeared on The Waltons. I wonder how that rumor got started.

Yeah I have to agree with the crew here that none of the girls is Drew Barrymorre and it doesn't look lke her young picture any of the little girls. A nice story, but a myth. Interestingto watch the episode on You Tube so I ddn't have to look up the Obsession episode. Thanks .WmFan

Yet another example of Wikipedia's not being a good source of info!! They make it entirely too easy for anyone to go in and make changes..... even 'tho they provide a disclaimer, probably too many take whatever is written at face value.... I once saw some errors about friend Kevin Dobson and went in and made the corrections -- then thought, "Well, why should anyone believe me?!"
I suppose Drew might have been in "The Obsession" as an uncredited actor (an infant/toddler) -- but definitely not as Melissa....
