I plan on attending barring any unforeseen issues. I look forward to celebrating Halloween and Carolyn's birthday as well as seeing everyone again.

But he recognizes it as a good show and I don't have to switch it off when he enters the room (like I do the trashy reality shows I sometimes wander over to--ever so briefly). I've gotten him involved in a lot of my "capers" over the years and for the most part I think he has enjoyed them and the adventures they brought.

I assume the only thing that has to be paid ahead of time is the hotel, right? So I would call and ask the hotel. Is there something else that has to be paid ahead of time?

Patriciaanne...You call the hotel and they will hold your reservation with a credit card. You mention that you want the Waltons Fan Club discount. Last year when those rooms were booked, there were not anymore offered at the discount price. Carolyn has the hotel set aside a block of rooms with the discount. She usually lets you know when you can start calling & making reservations. You have up to 24 hours before the actual check in date to cancel with no penalties. If anyone does have to cancel, it would be very nice & considerate if you would come to this forum & offer your room at the discount price to any takers here. Last year I gave my room with the special rate to forum member Cinlou & I took over forum member Heather's discount reservation as she had to cancel her trip.
You do have to go ahead and pay in advance for the actual Waltons reunion dinner that Carolyn has. Last year it was $70.00 a person. Carolyn will let us all know when it is time to mail a check to her for the dinner reservation along with a reservation form.
I know that forum members Heather & jerryboy had to cancel at the last minute last year. I do not know if they received their money back or not.

Thank you, Forever! So it sounds like it's too early to call the hotel and make reservations at this point. The dinner would be Fri. night, the 31st most likely, right?

Carolyn hasn't announced the schedule yet, but most likely the banquet will be on Saturday night. Usually there is a meet and greet session on Friday evening, a visit to Schuyler on Saturday, and the banquet Saturday night.

If it goes like last year - The meet and greet with the special guests & fans will be Friday evening/night October 31st. The next morning, Saturday November 1st, an autograph session with the special guests. Then you are free rest of the day until the dinner that night.
Most everyone goes to Schuyler between the autograph session and the dinner. Going to Schuyler you will pass the now closed Rockfish Post Office. At Schuyler everything is in walking distance of each other...Earl Hamner's childhood home, the shed he wrote in (now a gift shop), Ike's store, the hospital he was born in (now a private residence but the owner usually opens her home to the fans, last year she offered lunch for $5.00 - she had all kinds of food), the Baptist Church that Mr. Hamner attended growing up (they opened it last year so that you could go inside), the school Mr. Hamner attended that is now the Waltons Museum & gift shop.
I'm sure Carolyn will have a very emotional tribute to Ralph Waite plus November 1st is her birthday - so I hope those who attend will make it special for Carolyn.
