What episode(s) could you live without? For me it's The Indiscretion, The Pearls, The Tempest and The Whirlwind.

Carol, right now I can't add to that but did want to ask if there's a universally accepted worst episode or if that's a matter for debate.

I think it's a matter of personal opinion but The Pearls The Whirlwind and The Tempest seem to be the top contenders.

What I d didn't like about it was how fast they made Jonesy. Slowww down! I didn't like Curt that much. So anyone would be an improvement. I, too, didn't like The Indiscretion. Ike would never cheat! Is that what they call Jumping The Shark?

Carol - Aside from your list, there is one more that I would add. From Season 7 Ep. 5 "The Changeling". Elizabeth's 13th birthday coincides with spooky events that no one can explain. It originally aired on 10/26/1978, so I guess they wanted it to be for Halloween?!? I agree with that one too. Another one I should have put on my list is The Dust Bowl Cousins.

The hostage. It just didn't seem 'Walton's like" for Elizabeth to be kidnapped.

Off the top of my head, I didn't care for that episode where Elizabeth has the nightmares about the Ferris wheel. I also didn't like the one with Curt's sister with that godawful Southern accent leading Jason on. Every time she opened her mouth I wanted her to shut up because the accent was that bad. Season 9 is in the mail to me now, so I can't comment on any from then, as I missed many of them because I was in college when they first aired. I may add to this list as more episodes come to mind but, for now, that's it.

I remember seeing the Changeling as a child and it scared me to death! Seeing things fly through the air all by themselves just wasn't something I was used to seeing. That was the only Walton's episode that ever scared me. It was very un-Walton-like. The fact that Olivia was handling it so calmly also seemed uncharacteristic.
Oh... I wanted to add that The Ferris Wheel episode with Elizabeth was scary too back in the day. The creepy music and Elizabeth sleep walking and winding up on the roof or a ferris wheel was just too much. Again, not very Walton-like.
It seems Elizabeth was a focus for the most scary episodes.

Have to agree with you re the episode with Linda Purl The Heartbreaker where she sings 'I'll Fly Away' over and over like a drone throughout the episode. That she sang it once or twice was bad enough but I think she sang it three or four times and I haaaate it!!! all I think about is 'play another record for petes sake!!!' Don't enjoy The Ferris Wheel or The Changeling either...I'm not a fan of the Elizabeth character.
