I'm not sure how that's supposed to work.... I think once you have selected a member, then you can go into your Profile, click on their Avatar and easily see their latest postings.... but maybe there is more to it, I just don't know because I've never been able to get it to work for me !!! For some reason, when I select someone to follow, it doesn't "take".....
I'd like to know if other members actually use this function, and for what purpose....

I took the liberty of looking at the Notifications section of My Profile which shows options to be checked off so that I get emails automatically for things like when someone decides to follow me or likes a post that I have made and other things. However, I don't see an option to check off if I would like an email sent to me if someone that I follow has posted a comment on a thread or has created a new thread. I do Twitter, and I receive a notification every time some that I follow tweets something. Even though we are able to follow others on The Walton Forum I don't think the process of following is entirely complete as I believe the followers never receive notifications when the members that are followed make posts or creates new threads. Perhaps, Brenda can enlighten us as to whether further steps need to be performed to enable all followers to receive emails when posts are made or threads are created by those they follow.

When you follow someone you can view their activity. Go to your 'profile page' then click 'following'. Any member you follow you should be able to see their recent activity. It will have a the heading " This member is following 4 members. Their activity is displayed below.". I see it as sort of adding one to your friends list -- but they have (or at least to my best of knowledge) no control on who can add them. Meaning, they can't not accept it. I, personally, don't really visit the 'following' page; I just see it as a nice confirmation, yes you are my fellow Walton-fan friend, I will follow you. Maybe there is more to it, but that's all I really know about it

Click this, here. That's more information on the 'following' feature. Article is done by the company this forum is hosted by, ProBoards. Here's some more information on another page of their website: ProBoards v5 introduces a great new way to stay up to date with your friends. You can easily "follow" other members on the forum to build a customized activity feed for the members you care about. You can also see what an individual member has been up to in their profile's activity tab, such as postings they have made, posts they liked, and much more. Activity feeds help you and your members stay more engaged with your forum.

It seems to me that, if you keep up with all the "Recent Threads", there is little reason to separate out a specific member unless you want to go back and find something.... then, you can simply "Search" the member list, right.... ??
