In early seasons it is said the Ben was older then Erin. In the Nurse Grandpa said something to John about Mary Ellen graduating from High School and Ben said "and I'm next".

This is just another example of having different writers for different episodes who weren't always on the same page. When the show was in its first run, we watched an episode once, then maybe once again during the summer reruns. The writers, directors, producers, etc, had no idea that 40 years later, we would have instant access to every episode whenever we want, and that people all over the world would have the ability to get together on a forum and discuss these various discrepancies.

Yes, Brenda, you are right. It is pretty amazing that we now have instant access to these shows. And to me it is amazing that we have had the chance to meet many of the actors from the show. That was always a dream of mine when I was growing up, and thanks to Carolyn Grinnell the dream became reality. It has been quite a ride! Now living in Ecuador, I am not able to participate in these special events. I was disappointed that I could not be at the 40th anniversary celebrations in CA, but I was able to be at the 25th anniversary in VA with Earl, Judy, Mary, Kami, Ronnie Claire and Hal along with other members of the Hamner family. What a great time we had! I remember vividly when Judy put her birds' nest on the Christmas tree as she did in "The Homecoming," the movie that started "The Waltons" show.
