I think my least favorite character was Elizabeth. I like certain things about her, like the relationship she shared with John-Boy. But I thought her rather whiney and needy for a child of the depression era. I guess, with her being the youngest, she has a lot of things done for her. But at times she seems utterly helpless, unlike the actress who portrayed her. I'm with you, Peggi -- and, I think they kept her too baby-ish for far too long..... so much so that, when they finally gave her some individuality, it seemed forced and not very real....

In the beginning, she was little and cute, so it was okay for her to be treated like the baby. But her character should have grown up more than it did. It sort of reminds me of Cindy Brady on the Brady Bunch, who wore little short dresses and curly pigtails for far too long. Remember when Olivia was substitute teaching, and Elizabeth sat on her lap in the front of he room while she was teaching? I can't imagine that happening in real life. While Kami was growing up into a beautiful, intelligent young woman, Elizabeth seemed to be stuck in the role of spoiled baby of the family.

I agree with you some Brenda, but then why did Cora Beth say Elizabeth grew into a beautiful smart young lady which she did. The pigtails disapperaed after about Season 5 or 6 as Kami and Elizabeth grew up. Funny in my which Walton would you let go, I said that Mary Elizabeth McDonough was much more talented than Erin the character she played. I guess Juy Norton stayed pretty even in smarts with Mary Ellen.
