I always thought her Character was a absolute riot! ;D I wish they woud have included her in more episodes! Everytime I saw her, I'd crack up laughing. Haha. I really wish I could have met her before she passed away. RYAN-J

She only appeared in a few roles before she came to the Waltons. One appearance was in a Dodge auto commercial which was shown quite frequently between 1967 and 1969 in which they played a song to the tune of 'Do you know the Way to San Jose?" The commercial's words were"Dodge is turning up the fever now." Marie Earle died in November of 1984 of uremic poisoning.

I really liked Maude Gormley and her goat Myrtle! I just watched The Flight, season 6. In this episode Maude's son wants to put her in a rest home because he's afraid she'll fall or get hurt living alone. Is this the last time we see Maude? I rem when Grandma was sick (off the show) and Elizabeth was missing her so badly that she adopts Maude as a grandmother. That's not the correct episode/season for when Maude's son wants to put her into a rest home. That happened in Season 4 in the episode "The Test". I only remember because I just watched this one a week or so ago.

Not sure how many more times Maude appeared, though. Still haven't seen season 5. (Need to order that one SOON and finish off my collection.)

I too had just watched the "The Test". ;D I watch The Waltons on 3 channels, no wonder I'm confused

LOL I wish I could watch it more often than I do. I've done so many Walton marathons as I bought the seasons, I've kinda worn my family out on it. And since I enjoy it watching it on the tv instead of the computer, I tend to wait a while before I start another one up. It makes me feel impatient, but it's more fun to watch it on a larger screen. ;D

I just looked it, and the last time Maude Gormley was seen was in "The Attack" from season 7, episode 18: For a full list of all the episodes Maude was in, check out the following link: www.imdb.com/character/ch0207070/filmoseries#tt0068149Never realized she was in that many... I thought maybe 5 or 6, total.

I did not like Maude at all! Something about her gave me the creeps. Really got on my nerves. Wonder how the kids liked her? WOW! Kinda strong words there, don't ya think? She was just giving her opinion and that's okay!

Merie made Maude her own character. I think she just went before the camera and let loose. After that, the writers and directors just had to try to keep up. She certainly had her own style. I loved the scene in Ike's store where she wanted sugar and there wasn't any. The way she turned away to go out the door with her nose in the air as she remarked about taking her business to Rockfish was precious.
