I really liked Maude Gormley and her goat Myrtle! I just watched The Flight, season 6. In this episode Maude's son wants to put her in a rest home because he's afraid she'll fall or get hurt living alone. Is this the last time we see Maude? I rem when Grandma was sick (off the show) and Elizabeth was missing her so badly that she adopts Maude as a grandmother.

Was the lady who played her an actress? it was like they just got a crew members mom. I liked it-she seemed natural

I think the first time we see Maude Gormley is in Season 1 (Episode 14) The Mistrel.

Maude Gormley was played by an actress named Marie Earle. I liked her too, and thought she was a good addition to a group of rather interesting support characters on The Waltons.

I thought she was the cutest little old lady Me too!! She did commercials for Dodge and said something like Put a Dodge in your garage, honey! Can still see her driving with Little old lady from Pasadena playing in the background. She also was a regular on some television show that Jerry Reed had on. She was a real doll!

The actress was great and the character even better. I saw my 85 year old grandmother today. Maude just wants some attention..We need to appreciate older folks.

It's true mtdawg, I remember doing some volunteer work at a seniors home, and I remember looking at them, and thinking, "My God, they used to be young like me, and maybe they were the "cool" kids growing up, and now they are so old and alone". It really bothered me that one day ( if I am blessed to live that long), that I will have wrinkles, and walk slow, and young people will get annoyed with me. We really do need to remember that they were young once and we will be old like them, and if younger people take a minute and listen to them, we can learn a whole lot too.

I always liked Maude. She somehow reminded me of my Granny.

I loved Maude! She added a real spice to the show. I love the part where she's hiding in the Walton barn from her son.

I did not like Maude at all! Something about her gave me the creeps. Really got on my nerves. Wonder how the kids liked her?
