GW was a very kind man, who did not want to hurt anyone.Erin was not ready for marriage yet. The ones who were mean were donkey-lee Longworth and JD Pickett. Erin did not mistreat Arnold Kevin, but because she was wounded by what happened to GW she was afraid the same thing would happen to Arnold. Drew had probably not had many expereinces with girls so Elizabeth had to keep him in line. He wanted to go further than what unmarried people should do when he spent the night at the Waltons and Erin caught both of them in their pjs.

I really related to Erin, growing up the middle child, trying to find your place in life, teen angst, I think her character was played right on cue in the eyes of many of us who shared the same type personality as Erin.

A couple of people have complained about this thread, and I did slightly edit one post in the thread. I am hoping that I am correct in assuming that you are criticizing the character of Erin and the storylines that were given to her by the writers of the episodes, and that you are not criticizing Mary McDonough or her acting skills. I think Mary is a wonderful actor and a wonderful, warm and caring person. I wouldn't want her to read this thread and get the wrong idea. Negative posts about the actors on The Waltons will not be tolerated on this forum. They gave us over 200 episodes of quality television that we are still watching and discussing more than 30 years later. I think we should show them some appreciation, not criticism. Thanks for your cooperation. Brenda Very nice and true words Brenda. Thank you for creating this wonderful forum. Take care wmfan/waltonsportwriter

It's GMC. They had one called "Escape From Walton's Mountain".
Although why anybody would EVER want to leave that place is totally beyond me. ;D

I never really thought about the Walton girls treating men bad but it kinda appears that they did. Whether those episodes were written with that intent in mind I do not know. I do kind of feel sorry for the way some were treated but you know it can be that way in real life!!! Retreating..... ZnE

Oh darling ZnE... ;D ;D ;D It has been my experience that the treating badly of someone is normally perpetuated by the male of the species.
I don't fault Mary Ellen for allowing David to get a little close - she was young and beautiful and alone, and her husband was off doing the same thing! Besides, she didn't let David kiss her. It's kind of up in the air exactly what went on between Curt and the sleazy nurse, though.

I really hadn't thought much about how the Walton girls treated some men but it was what it was I guess I think the learning moment is that if you were a male trying to go out or date a Walton girl you had better have thick skin! Look at ol' Curt.... he had thick skin and dished right back to Mary Ellen. He married her! I learn something all the time visiting this forum, g...... ZnE

Oh come on, Dew. lol
Unless, you mean that nice guys deserve it....for being nice. he did nothing wrong to deserve that.
She had feelings for Willard WAY b4 the night of the rehearsel. She flat out treated Spencer bad.
I dont feel too bad for Chad, he went on to be a succesful caddy for Rodney Dangerfield and Chevy Chase.

Ya, David was a real nice guy. (And he grew up to be Bo Buchanan on "One Life To Live"!!!) I was thinking about the way her actions affected Curt. But as to how they affected David...she probably coulda handled it better, for sure.

I tell ya what, John -boy didnt treat The Wingwalker girl very good, in my opinion. What was he thinking? The sexiest girl in the history of the show, and he leads her on? If ya want to rip on John-boy for anything-rip on him for THAT !!
However, I loved when he told off that Sissy girl( the girl who stole his notes and willie ames got the blame) . i lol everytime I see that scene.

Scarlett, by sleazy nurse, do you mean the one that smiled at Curt? I didn't see anything sleazy in that.

Yeah that girl on the Wingwalker was hot but she had some emotional problems with love and trust. Just as she was falling for John Boy and he was for her he said something that wasnt quite right to her but it really wasn't that bad. Anyway it threw her off and she went back to her distrust and left at the end. Pretty amazing to see her walk on the wing of that plane though hey. waltonsportwriter
