The Walton's main meal usually consisted of one of these three main dishes - Meatloaf, fried chicken or ham!
I have the glasses they use and just love the character of them.

I did notice that. HA HA HA I am always looking at what they had for breakfast lunch and dinner (or as John calls it, breakfast, dinner and Supper). Those woman must have literally spent ALL day in the kitchen.

Hi bmack14, Meatloaf, chicken, and ham...my favorites. I too always watch for what they are eating at meal time. I know eric scott has said that shooting the meal scenes was tough because they sometimes had to do several takes of the same scene, but it always looks like a well set table.

Which episode was it where John gets tired of the same ole thing and tells Livy what they were having for dinner before she started making it?

Weren't they going through hard times and couldn't afford meat?
Us yankees call it breakfast, dinner and supper.

I have the glasses they use and just love the character of them. -- Probably the cheapest way to come up with meat -- they could raise the chickens and smoke/cure a pig (for easy "storage") -- and meatloaf is a good way to stretch and "improve" a cheap cut of beef. Makes sense. What -- no tuna/noodle casserole ? According to my mom, that was "invented" during the 1930's !

There was an episode on GMC recently where Elizabeth made macaroni and cheese. One of the boys complained about it being overbaked and crispy on top and Elizabeth took his plate away and said "No one is asking you to eat it."

Carol, seems most of the family was gone. Wasn't it just Grandpa, Jason, Ben and Jim Bob at the table?

John Curtis was upstairs and Elizabeth was babysitting. Everyone was trying to snatch the other persons plate too.

In Texas, I've found it depends on the family as to what the meal is called. As a kid, we always had breakfast, dinner, and supper ... and the same goes for me now.
Also country folks always eat better IF they put labor into a garden, hogs, cows, etc. The garden on the Waltons isnt near big enough to feed that family ... our family is smaller and our garden triple size. haha Although, these days the garden is even smaller than the Waltons due to health reasons ... once that feel and smell of dirt is in your heart you long for it ... as much as the fresh taste of the veggies.
I cant remember what the glasses looked like ... will have to notice next show. I've always enjoyed drinking sweet tea from the glasses that look like large goblets that are heavy ... still have some.
