If you want to watch a family period show and see the seasons change in all their glory - look for Road to Avonlea on DVD. For those of you who don't know this Canadian show, it's based on L.M. Montgomery's books which were set in Prince Edward Island. It's currently running on the CTV network on Sunday mornings. They did some wonderful stories showcasing winter - ice skating, snow storms - real ones - and the beauty of winterwear circa 1900.

Especially liked the series produced in which Colleen Dewhurst played Marilla. Because of Lucy Montgomery's books (I have them all), I even bought an Anne Shirley doll !! Anne had incredible red hair, just like Elizabeth Walton !! She once tried to bleach it blond and ended up GREEN, much like Jim-Bob's PINK hair !! And, I have travelled twice to PEI. What a delightful island -- beautiful and great fun !! Thanks for reminding me that winter scenes were so wonderfully depicted in the stories.....
