Wife and I are discussing Ben and Cindy and if they ever had other children after Virginia ... Wife recalls Erin bringing "several" children of hers and divorced husband to Cindy to babysit. Cindy had brought out Virginia's highchair for the baby mentioning that Ben still would not adopt. So therefore, they had no children.
I remember Virginia passing but dont remember how or why but that they wanted other children and couldnt have any. I remember Ben and Cindy having a baby boy and Cindy's mother wanted Ben and Cindy to come live with her. Ben refused to do that as he wanted to run the mill. At the end, the motherinlaw brings Cindy and the baby boy come back home to Ben. So what happened to the baby boy and did they ever have more children?
And how many kids did Erin end up with?

I'm not sure what ever happened to Ben and Cindy's baby boy. I don't think they ever had anymore kids. Cindy wasn't seen after A Walton Thanksgiving Reunion. There was no mention of her in A Walton Wedding or A Walton Easter. I'm not sure how many kids Erin had. I think she had 3,but I'm not sure.

I don't think it was an episode -- probably one of the specials....
Take a look at the-waltons.com for synopses -- you'll get a pretty good idea.

Jeri thanks to you for the link .... went there and rushed my scanning through it but didnt find anything about the baby boy ... so will look more closely tomorrow.
I did find this about the Mother's Day special, "Mother's Day on Walton's Mountain 5/09/82"
Mary Ellen marries Arlington Wescott Jones III, Jonesy. Mary Ellen spends part of her honeymoon in the hospital recuperating from an auto accident. She learns that her internal injuries leave her no hope of having children. Michael Learned appears from a sanitarium in Arizona.
Nite y'all ....

Ben and Cindy's baby boy was named Charles (Charlie) Benjamin Walton. Subsequent specials made no mention of Charlie and were actually errant in that they indicated that Ben and Cindy had no children now that Virginia had died. We were told in the end of A Walton Thanksgiving Reunion that Ben and Cindy had decided to adopt, but subsequent specials did not carry that storyline forward or confirm that the adoption had taken place.
Speaking of Walton offspring, as PLW indicates, we are told in Mother's Day on Walton's Mountain that Mary Ellen cannot have any more children, but subsequent specials give Mary Ellen multiple more children with no mention that they adopted. The specials in the 90's did a very poor job of researching the pre-existing Walton facts, in my opinion.

It seems to me that the specials took great liberty with the "facts" outlined in the series..... For this very reason, I really didn't like any of the specials very much. (Except for pure nostalgia.)
Maybe part of the problem is that "you just can't go back." The series was so good, there was no way to improve upon them or even continue them very well.

PLW--Ben and Cindy's boy Charlie was born in the special Mother's Day on Walton's Mountain, aired in May 1982. He was named after Cindy's adoptive father and after Ben.

I just choose to ignore what doesn't jibe with facts that were established before. In my mind, Curt died at Pearl Harbor, period.

Speaking of consistency and the lack thereof, there were several instances of that within the series itself. I can't recall any of them specifically at the moment (sorry). I did a marathon watch of several seasons back in the fall, and I remember stopping the DVDs many times to point out consistency errors to my hubby as I noticed them. Many of them were minor things that weren't *really* important to the overall story, but I'm kind of a stickler about things like that so it would always stick out like a sore thumb to me.
The worst inconsistencies definitely came from the specials, though. It drives me crazy that Charlie suddenly never existed, and Mary Ellen shown to have two (three?) more children after such a big deal was made over her not being able to have anymore children. Not to mention, John Curtis wasn't mentioned at all... no hint as to where he was, or even an indication given that *he* had ever existed. It was almost as if he had disappeared just like Charlie did. Very annoying.

I joined this group to find out information on the show and fill in some blanks and questions. It seems like we all agree what happened to Ben and Cindy's choldren? How did Virginia die? I just watched A Wedding on Walton's Mountain where Erin marries and Virginia is the flower girl and Cindy announces she is pregnant. How can the producers just throw all of that our the window???
